The wild thing is when I try to describe AI like this to people today, they think "Computers couldn't handle it" and I have to explain to them "They most certainly can because they could almost 20 years ago!" and even then most of them still don't fully understand it. It seems they have been conditioned to accept that Dead Worlds are the only thing that exists.

part of why so few games appeal to me, even the reduced version we got in oblivion is so much more alive than other games
@slizzysluzzer2 ай бұрын
Developers couldn't handle it, much easier to spend 3000 man hours on polishing turds and detailing those horse butthole assets. Intricately detailed, sterile lifeless open worlds that take 8+ years to actualize and all play, look, and feel the exact same is the industry standard, don't you know.

This is definitely one of the best mods I've ever seen for immersion. All it needs is adjustment to crime/guard hostility, and a way to generate new non essential npcs and then you have a solution to the whole npcs killing each other off/jails overflowing problem.

Thanks for the sub. Sure, its the second video, it is better. ❤ I think radiant ai is highly subjective. I love the idea behind it because it is more important than good graphics in my opinion. I still play oblivion because the world feels much more alive and believable than skyrims.

I'm wondering whether we can make the other mechanic essential for the NPCs, for example, hunters will really need to hunt in the wild to get pelt and meat, and civilian need to eat those meat to survive, and need those pelt to craft stuff.There will also be real cargo going from town to town, instead of popping up from inventory, and bandits will gang up on them to survive too, and it also will cause prices in the store go up and down.

That would be great actually. But i dont think the modders will go this far. This is something we can hope for tes6.

The thing that makes this radiant AI fascinating is that sometimes the AI will be abrupt and random, and sometimes those two traits represent people, while other times it will be amusing and mystifying. While it was incomplete and in turn prone to bugs, it was a fascinating AI for it's time.

maybe you could add a system when it comes to picking up objects but not stealing them? So that you don't stat a riot every time you nudge an apple a little. Maybe if you take it too far from where it was originally? maybe if you can find voice clips for it they can get annoyed when you start displacing shit Imagine you just grab a bottle and start knocking things off of the table with it and everyone is just berating you

i wanna see modern AI mixed with this ideal. imagine how smart this shit could be with modern ai compute.... it SEEMS like radiant ai is akin to running a modern 7b model that's been quantized down to IQ1_s which is the lowest ive seen. for example 8b llama 3 model im lookin at, Q8_0 quantized is 8.54 GB large while the IQ1_S is only 2.02 GB. and the difference between how they answer the same question is night/day. so I imagine their AI back then wasn't smart enough to work properly. with modern AI it would be possible. the issue then is the minimum system spec. with the new NPU's that brands are pushing (qualcomm, apple, amd, intel) its possible we could see games using those 45 TOPS minimum AI chips as part of video games to leverage smarter AI.... and it would work 1000s of times better than radiant ai....
