I have to give the most genuine thank you possible. I played this game once at my cousin's house when I was a child, and for literal years I have been trying to remember what the hell it was called. It plays like a PS1 more than a PS2 game. I ended up beating the game myself, but you have to play the game like it's a PS1 game with tank controllers. If you try playing it like a PS2 game with the analog sticks you're going to have an absolutely awful time.

The game actually does have a health bar, but he probably needs to update his emulator, or else try adjusting some of it's settings. In addition to the health bar not being displayed at the bottom left of the screen, emulation problems are also causing the targeting reticle in 1st person mode to not be displayed, the arrow icons at the bottom right of the screen to be displayed improperly, and the shaders on the gemstones are also rendering incorrectly.
