It's not really much of a pocket sniper. Getting a body or a leg shot would do 48 damage. I'd honestly use it more like a quick finisher when you're caught reloading.

This weapon is just awesome... It's really this "surprise mthfka" effect... Especially when you are low on health and being cornered, while carrying a low dmging weapon (like any medic-rifle or an LMG). Pull out the Obrez and surprise the mthfka who thought that you are going to be an easy kill. Soooo satisfying!

@@matej5226 depending on how much of the barrel was cut of there would be rifling. But in game the barrel is completely removed leaving only little bit of rifling thats part of the guns action, so it would be extremely inaccurate for anything less than close range, especially with the amount of recoil from the round and the lack of any kind of stock to compensate that recoil.

Barrel length has much to do with velocity and power in firearms. A longer barrel allows for more time and space for the powder to burn and accelerate the bullet. Longer barrel = more velocity. More velocity = more power.

1900 shotgun + obrez = perfect, high damage at close range and best damage at range for sidearms. If they don't die in two shots from the most powerful shotgun in the game they'll definitely die from a cut down mosin nagant rifle.

1895 Nagant Revolver is also able to be suppressed being one of the only if not the only revolver capable of being suppressed, the cartridge actually has the bullet inside the case and in combination with the cylinder moving forward towards the barrel it closes most of the cylinder gap allowing all the gas to go through the barrel

I like using it as a sidearm to my model 1900 slug, if I have to switch it usually one-shots a wounded enemy. It does pretty well as a back-up when I'm using a standard shotgun too, as it gives you a bit of extra range.

The Nagant Revolver is actually really awesome, will be interesting to see if they show the cylinder moving forward when fired. Also has a unique shape to the cartridge. It's the only revolver I know of that can actually be silenced...

Cutting the barrel down that far greatly reduces the power of the bullet. The long barrel is used to accelerate the projectile, removing it makes it much slower.

Ive never seen a real Obrez cut down THAT much. Usually it has at least some of its stock left on it, but whatever no big deal, it actually looks really cool this way ...I can only imagine how the real gun would perform firing a rifle round with a barrel cut down to only a couple inches. I bet the loss in velocity is terrible. Damage stats are probably accurate lol.

Well nagant revolver is the first unmodified revolver that can use a silencer, since the cylinder with bullets goes a bit forward stoping the gasses from escaping

For the assault class- might be overpowered cause you are going to be at close range and with that 5m sweetspot. For the medic class- could be useful if you get in a sticky situation but this sidearm might work best with the fedorov since you are going to be mostly in close range For the support class- Again useful if you get in a sticky situation For the scout class- Useless because you are going to be in long range but might work with the infantry versions These are my opinions on how the obrez might behave with the 4 classes - *_NUT_*

Actually this particular firearm would technically be a designated marksman rifle if it was scoped and still carbine length from my understanding. Even then this would be classified as a handgun and these were popular to cut down to have the chamber and a few inches to act as a defensive pistal because it's easier to hide behind a shelf or couch than the full length rifle or carbine

Just to point Obrez simply means "Cut Down/Short" which was common with long barreled weapons in Russia and Soviet Union. Obrez is more common name for double barreled shotgun with it's barrel cut in half.

Umm I'm sure another gun guy pointed this out somewhere on this comment section, but just to point out that you don't keep the same amount of power from a cut down weapon that you had from a full size. You lose/gain 50fps of velocity for about every inch of barrel. So in a full size mosin nagant with a 24" barrel you might be at near .30-06 velocities while in a 5in you're close to an AK velocity with the same 154gr bullet. So on the energy side you just went from 2900 pounds of energy down to about 1300 roughly, so you just lost over 50% of your killing power.

I like the reference you made to the cut down Enfield rifles, But the story of the Obrez is a little bit different. The fact they added it in the CTE in the new map is a nod to its history. The Obrez was a Bandit's weapon. Criminals and the Bolsheviks would cut the M91 Mosin rifles down in order to hide them in their coats, carts, and cars for personal protection and for surprise in a raid. The Bolsheviks used them as a alternative to pistols due to their availability and fire power in such a small package. It's a weapon I would love to have in my personal collection of firearms for the fact that its a rather interesting weapon only found in Eastern Europe as the pistol was seen as a Weapon of status unlike in Western Europe.

You got if ass bass ackwards. The barrel offers velocity. More velocity = energy. It being shorter makes it less powerful. Its just as accurate(technical)

Ah finally my Scout class will have a pistol other then the Mars and P08 to use. It is strange hearing you mention the M1911 as the most use pistol though as I never see it being used on PS4. I don't use it much if at all as I find it to be a lackluster weapon since it appears in just about every war game out there.

Is that literally a stockless Mosin with a 0in barrel?! Good luck keeping your fingers after shooting that. The recoil is bad enough even with a stock. Without that shouldered or any weight it would probably fly out of your hands like shooting a 500SW without any grip to hold it. I have 3 Mosins, 2 round receivers and 1 hex receiver. I kinda know what I'm taking about.
