OBS: Fix Stuttering/Dropped frames in recordings

Record using OBS? Recordings stuttering, or dropping frames? Everything should be working fine, but if you're struggling with this, then this is the tutorial that should fix everything for you.

1. Run obs in admin mode to fix slight stutters. 2. If you're lagging more than a little bit then change your encoder settings in obs. 3. Dedicate resources to the recording by lowering game settings if on pc

@@shnglbot If you have a graphics card then go to output and change you're encoder to your graphics card. If not I would just try the other options to see what gives you a better performance

I've got a 1660 ti , with a Rysom 5600 , only started getting terrible out of sync recording after adding audio filters .. I'm only playing Indies atm so it doesn't make much sense to me after running okay previously .... I'll try the run as administrator and vsync cheers 🍻

You, sir, are a godsend! I've been looking all over for fixes to the stuttering frame issues on my videos but have only seen people advertising their computer stats with no answers. Never thought enabling administrator access for OBS would do the trick; didn't even know OBS was so low in the allocation of computer resources. I went to every channel on this topic and everyone told that higher your settings I have a RTX 2060 S and still got stuttering on my vids I set the thing to 1080p 60fps and it stutters But when I did 720p 30 fps or 48 it ran well Now i know the trick I'll do the administrator trick or I'll prioritize OBS Thanks Man

My recording is really smooth but i get a sort of frame skip every now and then (once a minute maybe more) and it's not that enjoyable to watch when that happens. I am gonna try to give OBS a higher priority, then run it as an administrator. Thanks for the suggestions ! Ed : Apparently, nothing worked even though i tried many things. The software says it doesn't skips any frames even during long recording, but i still get these occasional stutters, which last for ~ 1 second every time .

I'm so confused. I'm watching this because my gameplay is choppy when I open/record with OBS... so I ran it as admin and now my frames are back up to 144fps and its overall better. but I'm running an RTX2070 super MaxQ with 512 SSD with space available so I don't understand how my computer is running out of resources. I get a small stutter every 1 or 2 seconds, and I've tried running as admin, recording on lower OBS settings, and recording on lower game settings and it still persists. I have hardware that should be able to handle this, but nothing has worked so far. EDIT: found the problem like 5 minutes after i made this, i was recording to a hard drive instead of an ssd

I've tried all the ingame settings before coming here, and I have no idea if the FPS Max thing is supported or not. I tried the run as administrator thing, but while it reduces my recording lag, it increases my ingame lag to the point where the game is unplayable. Hopefully any of these fixes helps to prevent future recordings from being ruined by a single massive frame drop. Which is never great to have happen when recording a racing game and the frame drop occurs during the race itself where you can't simply edit it out in post. Tried setting OBS to be run as admin and didn't see any frame drops in a test recording. So, hopefully, the problem has been fixed.
