Nice end of the trip finding the F250 Power Stroke Diesel.... What was especially good on the P/U was the shortie bed, big knobby tires and all the power options even though the manual tranny had issues with 2nd and 3rd gear but that can be fixed along with the emergency cable and the horn... Solid rig for your utility work and running around......

Good purchase! I've daily driven the same thing for 15 years only CCLB version. The rear brakes not holding adjustment is a huge issue. I manually adjusted mine for years before finding the solution. The stamped steel levers available today that spin the star wheel adjusters are junk and don't have enough of an edge to catch on the star wheel teeth. My last brake job, I swapped the levers from side to side on the truck, installing the left side lever on the right side wheel and the right side lever on the left side wheel, and it fixed it. Swapping them allows the very edge of the lever to grab the star wheel teeth and it works great! You'll have to hold the levers in your hand to see what I'm talking about.

These are such cool trucks, you got an especially cool spec since the Super Cab short bed is so rare. I have a 1995 F-250 that's very similar with the 7.3 Powerstroke, ZF5 manual, 4wd and Super Cab too. Mine is an Oxford white long bed truck but it's just what I needed when I got it. They aren't fast trucks at all unless you really juice it up but they're plenty strong, it can handle about double the stock power before some pretty serious things need changed out. Instead of the typical cab lights you should try to track down a Lund lighted visor for this instead.

Those 10.5 sterling rear axle brakes will be out of adjustment again in about 3000 miles. I replaced everything in mine twice and the self adjusting part just never seemed to work. The zf5 transmissions almost always lose that lower gear synchros too. I just got used to shifting slower! That’s a great truck and it’s already Dana 60 swapped in the front! Love it. Hope it serves you well. Oh and to add, you should find a way to register it in Arkansas. No inspections here. You could get some of finnegan’s junk legal to drive in this state.

Nice find on the OBS Ferd. I've got a 95 F250 XLT 4x4 with the 460/E4OD combo that I use for RV transport. Yes, you read that right. A 27 year old gas burning truck turning 10,000 miles a month, towing for at least half of those miles across the US and Canada. Except for transfer case problems on one trip and a few little nitpicky issues, it has been flawless. I just need to make sure to keep lots of dinosaur bones and ground gravy to it and it's happy enough. The best part? Payments are zero dollars per month.

That's what I did to make the horns work on my '56 Buick. The old horn contact at the base of the inside of the steering column was cracked, and new ones are unobtainable and require removal and replacement of the entire steering column, steering wheel, shift mechanism basically the whole nine yards. So yup, now I have that same black button under the left side of the dash where I can easily reach it. Works just fine!

Bought a 2WD 5.0 F250 with a ZF5 for $1000 that I used to move from Las Vegas to Midland for A&P schoot. A month after school started I got T-Boned in Midland by a guy that just had to get across 1788 before the semi to my left had gotten past. We never saw each other until we went past the corner of the semi tractor. Cracked a couple ribs and used the insurance payout from that to buy a Honda Insight 1st gen that got much better mileage. But I really missed that ZF5 transmission. Later bought a GMC Sonoma ZR2 for $1200 and kept poking around Craigslist until I found someone willing to trade straight up, his F350 CCLB Dually with the 460 and ZF5 transmission. Loved that combo, even 'tho Ford only did half the work putting in the EFI (bank fire sucks). With the genetic header leak on #8 and a shift at just the right time, it would detonate the excess fuel in the exhaust for an enormous bang. Not to mention all the pops and crackle with the overrun and engine braking. Sorry to see it go, but found an even trade for a 2002 Avalanche that's never missed a step other then the 4L60 that GM beancounters decided to put in their trucks of that era to save a couple bucks. The horn fix is ugly as sin, but the F350 had the same fix until I realized that to fix the cruise control switches, you had to change the clockspring that runs them and the horn switches. It's a common failure and of course Ford doesn't do spare parts support. I probably got one of the last NOS clocksprings via eBay from a UHaul dealer closeout. It's just a very simple flat trace cable and it's easy to replace, but good luck finding the replacement. Make sure the brake master cylinder recall has been done. The switch that disconnects the cruise control will develop a leak and the brake fluid will get into the connector and start a fire. Don't park it inside until you are sure it's safe. As it's a recall, all Ford dealerships will fix it for free if you bring it in. And watch out for the cup holders. The only cups they hold are coffee mugs. Anything else will get tossed out almost immediately. I got aggravated enough that I hole-sawed out the bottoms so they were useful again.

Those are a fairly rare bird as an extended cab shortbed. I have a 95 f150 extended cab flareside and I've often toyed with the idea of finding a 250 to throw that bed on

Cool truck and with Aaron understanding of diesels its a no brainer.... cool truck. You mentioned cab lights and said "Macho lights". You should call the Macho truck. Totally like Sushi.... Looks like you guys are eating the stuff from Kroger. The one by our old home in Forney was pretty good, but the Hibachi place near there was better. Kroger was nice for something like you guys are doing.
