Burton Bird is definitely an interesting approach to platformers, first time that I am seeing it. A shame that Super Gem Z was never officially released, it would have been a hit I think.

After playing Burton for a few levels and dying a lot for this video, I gotta say that it must've been tons more comfortable on a joystick and not keyboard. xD Super Gem'Z could have indeed succeed. They should've released it, despite the code leak.

Benefactor & Tanx ‘n Stuff are excellent games. Perihelion looks great? Also I’m sorry but as a British person I believe I’m required to get weirdly upset about the pronunciation of “Wacus” aren’t I? 😄 30(ish) years on & most of this list is new to me recommendations. Thanks.

Benefactor has a very special place in my memories. I was a teen, I got sick, nothing serious, flu or something, but I didn't go to school for the next few days to get better. And all I did is played Benefactor. And had soooo much fun! Not sure if it's cause it's a cool game, or cause I had fever but had time of my life. :) Perihelion is a game that I wanted to complete so badly, so many times back then. And every single time somehow, for whatever reason, something prevented it. Clearly, it was not meant to be. And yeah, it looks great. And "Wacus" is probably one of those words that I'll never manage to properly pronounce in English. Probably cause it's not English. There's just so many of these pronunciations that sorta fit when I look at it. And Polish pronunciation is a completely different nightmare for native English speakers. xD Great! I mean, great that there are some games you never knew of. That's the idea behind the obscure games list, really. :) Hopefully, next one's going to be a good one too.

Perihelion is indeed great. It's got bits and pieces of everything: character creation and exploration similar to Eye of the Beholder, combat similar to Shining Force, a variety of interesting classes and magic, and a dusty, post apocalyptic atmosphere with a foreboding feel and some genuinely scary moments. It's a pretty unique vision and definitely deserves more recognition than it got.

These polish games look pretty awesome. I would have loved to play those back in the late days of the Amiga. While we occasionally did get some polish games in Germany, I never heard of Wacus and that Flashback style game. Pretty cool.

For a game to steal the design from a predecessor is one thing, but Tanx'n Stuff even stole the sound effects from Firepower. While looking considerably less ... nice.

Use to play sneech a lot , it is e very intense game. IMO superior to Snake IO. If anyone wants to get hold of it don't look amongst commercial games as it's shareware/freeware/PD , places like Aminet will have it.

Both are good, but Benefactor is just on another level. It deserved more recognition than it ever got. And a remake for Steam Deck released today would be cool too.

I put plenty of hours into Bob's Bad Day, but I don't think I ever got close to beating it. Like playing the bonus stages in the original Sonic The Hedgehog, but for the whole game.

Perihelion is my #1 pick for obscure great Amiga games. I think a big reason is stayed up skewer is that piracy was a big thing, but to combat this, there were hints and spells in the instruction manual that the game would be impossible without. My biggest tip (besides getting the manual!) is that if you wanted to play through it but skip the challenging combat, you can. There are a few places that enemies can get stuck in combat, where they will wait for you if you stand in certain spots. Then, because leveling up a skill is based on using it, you can move back and forth, perform weak attacks on party members, etc. until all your stats are off the charts and you can wipe everything out easily. Much more fun to do it honestly though… just don’t get hasty in character creation. All the stats are randomized between 1 and 100, and leveling one up, increases it by 10%. So if a character has any low essential stats, they’re doomed from the start.

Back in the day, I could get pretty much any game pirated as they were all available basically anywhere. Perihelion was no different. Although you're right as the pirated copy did not come with a manual. But it's funny cause now, so many years later, every single game that I own, and there's around 3,000 of these, is an original.

@@OldAndNewVideoGames I got a pirated copy as well, but after getting stuck at the first terminal (the hint for the passcode for it is in the manual, not the game) but really loving what I'd seen so far, I wrote the publisher to ask if I could have a copy of the manual or purchase a strategy guide. They sent me the manual and I still have it. :)

I still want to look for BENEFACTOR to my Amiga 500 😹. The game looks awesome and reminds me of a legendary classic game LODE RUNNER 😺👍🕹️. Also, SUPER GEM'Z would have looked nice 😸👍🕹️.
