I first heard about Mr Mosquito through Toonami, they used to have small segments showcasing different and often weird games and this was the one that stood out to me the most.
@ShadowWolfRising2 жыл бұрын
I rented Mister Mosquito. That was a entertaining game. "Suggest Odd ones." Okage: Shadow King, Ephemeral Phantasia, Tsugunai: Atonement, Jade Cocoon 2, Robot Alchemic Drive, Steambot Chronicles, Evergrace, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel (Not to be confused with the Tactics game.), Under the Skin, Haven: Call of the King, Kya: Dark Lineage, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, Whiplash, Dr. Muto, Toe-Jam and Earl 3, Scaler, and Vexx. That should do.
@coyeh2852 жыл бұрын
Scaler was the first game I ever owned on PS2. I must have beaten it at least 10 times. So much nostalgia
@skullwolfsteam2 жыл бұрын
vexx huh? i aint played that game since i last rented it in my old rental store back in the mid to late 2000's its an odd and pretty hard platformer for sure! (the final boss is so damn tough to beat)

Steambot Chronicles isn't particularly odd, but it's fantastic and a hidden gem worth playing, for sure

This is exactly why ps2 was my favorite era. So much variety and experiments! Nowadays dev costs are so high games must be streamlined to minimise risks. Now indy is the way to experiment, and if a new genre is proven successfull enough, giants of the industry will clone it, add a few sparkles, and get their share of the pie.

Great video as always. How I yearn for those days of old, the good days, the Mr Mosquito days.
@goatbone2 ай бұрын
I absolutely love X-Treme Express. For me it is the true 'hidden gem' of the PS2 library. It's really fun once you understand how to maximise speed without derailing including anticipating when you can go fast and purposefully derail to be put straight back on, or using a tunnel to stop you derailing. Also learning how to knock off other trains makes the game fast and frantic.
@FlipzMCL2 жыл бұрын
I unfortunately don't have knowledge of specifics, but a video on PS3 games that technically also had a PS2 version that no one remembers could be a neat theme for an episode; I find games released right around the time of a console generation shift to be particularly fascinating from a games history perspective, particularly when the devs clearly saw the future approaching but were ultimately shackled by the platform they had to release on.

what a nice and rather informative video. not sure if it counts as obscure, but my favorite lesser known ps2 game is Atelier Iris and it's sequel. haven't played the third entry for that particular series but it's just so painfully comfy to play the first one again and again, which is helped by still not being able to find all the fun little bits here and there.

One obscure game that back in 2006 or 2007 you could easily find in the 3$ bucket of unsold games at the exit of shops like Mediamarkt (that's where i bought my copy) is Go Go Copter, an RC helicopter simulator where you fly around a house, doing challenges and finding stars similar to SM64, to unlock new zones, and more challenges, really neat and fun game.

Recommendations: Hungry Ghosts- 1st person horror action game. Chain Dive- Strider meets Bionic Commando. Remote Control Dandy SF- sequel to PS1 mecha game with an unconventional control scheme. Ghost Vibrations- 1st person rail shooter(movement between sections is manual and in 3rd person but you can only move forward and never back). The game has 3 post game stages upon loading a clear game save, footage of which I haven't found. They seemingly require 100% ghost capture to unlock.

yeah do more of these, also I vaugly remember a 360 game I rented where it was a tactical rpg...but it was world war 2...with like vampires were wolves and other mythical creations, don't even remember if it was any good I suppose Metal Saga would also be a good game to look into, you want weird, hoooooooooooboy like the story is nothing to write home about but the weird stuff like the temple composed of japanese speedo wearing macho men will be memorable, that and dogs with artillery cannons on their back its actually one of two games that came here from the Metal Max series

I didn't have many PS1 games, and even fewer were obscure. Incredible Crisis was pretty memorable and very japanese. Another game I've never seen anyone even mention is Destrega. A friend of mine played the demo, but I had the full game. I remember the voice acting being... a product of its time. Might be funny to play through it, or at least check out a longplay.

I don't know if it's obscure or not but I had this cute little game, Herdy Gerdy, it's a puzzle platformer where you have to herd animals and of course different animals requires different approaches. IIRC it's like not the best game ever but still a very solid one
