I've heard Obsession is circling the drain, soon to be out of biz. Hope it's not true.

@@silverarchery just a comment about Martin and Obsession. As we all know, archery is a small world. Bowhunters talk and it's definitely a word of mouth type industry. It's also dominated by four or five major players. We all know who they are. Martin was a company that was definitely in trouble and they would have gone under had they not been bought out by a private equity firm that infused cash into them. Obsession, interestingly enough, was a company that got a lot of good press and a lot of good reviews when people went out and shot them. So they started growing. But after some time a lot of whispering started regarding poor customer service. And soon you had dealers that weren't happy with them. In fact, I know a dealer who told me that they dropped them because of their customer service. Then, the biggest problem that they had was that they were flat out lying about their performance. They would claim an IBO speed rating of 355 when it should have been 325. That just absolutely killed them. So, they were in deep trouble. And they were also saved ---at least for a while----when they were bought by Martin. But they have a challenging road ahead. The main thing they need to do is just focus on building a superior product and build their customer service back. Another thing, I believe, that has hurt archery is the explosion in crossbow technology and hunting. Now that most states treat crossbows just like compounds, hunters that otherwise would buy compounds are now buying crossbows. To me it seems that bowhunting is at an interesting crossroads. So, we'll see in the next few years how everything shakes out.

@@johngarnergarner6724 great comments. Obsession run in troubles when they were part of Arcus group, They were Family run business - they treated everyone as part of the family - that was gone duirng the "Arcus" expoerient"-, and customer service along with it. that was the main reason why they suffered. Since they joined Martin, Dennis and Angela came out of retirement, and they went back to their roots, making fantastic bows, with customer service, once again, next to no one. recently we needed, on several occasions parts for the bows that are 5 years old models- and we got them within a week-sent to us in UK! Crossbows..etc- spot on! during the 2019 ATA show- all we could here from so many - they should called it Crossbow show, and due to Pandemic- that trend spread outside of USA, not so much because of bowhunting , but for home protection ( outside of uS there are extremely strict gun laws) - regardless - results were the same. Crossbows sales across the globe went sky high. How will all play in long run- we have to wait and see. Fro US- trend is set - thanks to more states allowing crossbows duirng bowhunting season- crossbows for sure are taking over, on the end all it matters in meat in freezer.

@@silverarchery I hope Obsession and Martin do well. They simply have to produce a superior product. If they do the word will get out. I live in North Carolina in the southeastern part of the US. I'm an avid Bowhunter and hunt with both compound and crossbow. This summer I'm in the market for a new bow and Obsession is one I'll definitely consider. But there are no Obsession dealers in my area. So, I'll have to buy without shooting first. And I might do just that. I'm also considering Athens. Bowtech and Hoyt. My current bow is a Bowtech Invasion which I have hunted with for almost ten years.
