Pay to win is why I'll never resub or allow myself to get very involved with this game. I did expend a LOT of time and resources to just walk away but now that I'm retired I can pop on and do whatever is current. DCUO may be the absolute worst MMO for pay to win. Honestly the game feels like a cheap phone game. As long as we have ESO, GW2, STOR, WoW and FF who needs to play a bad MMO?

It’s not pay to win, it’s pay to quick victory. Everything in the game can be grinded. Additionally, if you are going to buy, you can buy xp when they have a 50% sale and use the xp when it’s double xp. It’s also super easy to make money off the broker to buy anything additional you need. Source mark farming is easy as well, I wish people would stop saying it’s pay to win and turning players away. It’s an MMO, it’s suppose to be a grind, and the game needs to make money to have a staff to update the game and keep it going.

A 200 rank artifact and rank 20 ally are more than a grind. It’s not practical to farm 1.6 mil xp and hundreds of catalysts for the 1/4+ artifacts and 300k ally favor and hundreds of catalysts for 1/3 Allies. Can it be done? Sure but as you said I’d players are desperately waiting and ONLY leveling during sales and 2x weeks that should tell you right there how unrealistic the natural “grind” is. DCUO isn’t p2w, if you play other mmos and that is a common term used between them then we need to invent a new word just for dcuo because dpsing is p2w. If you want to out dps another player this is all what you could need. There is no player EVER in dcuo that has naturally grinded dozens of artifacts and multiple Allies.

@@ObsidianChill they have been doing more and more sales and double xp/drops. Allies are easy, favor and alliances drop in new time capsules you can open from monthly rewards. Plus you can buy alliances, cats on broker. And money is SUPER easy to make in this game. Fate tokens and loyalty can be used for seals of completion. Everything else is just a grind to get. Everyone doesn’t need to be the best in the game, you can get to be doing sufficient damage pretty easily, and if you don’t have the time to grind, you can spend money if you choose. I personally barely spend anything other then monthly membership. It can be done. Again, games need to make money.

It's been really tricky finding good information about the various powers because of this weird insistence on top dps. Top dps is great if you've been playing for years and/or have a huge amount of money to waste on the game, I'm just out here trying to figure out which power rotation clicks with me and where to allocate my meager resources to improve as much as I can so that I'm not a burden to pugs (as much). In that vein this video is another useful resource, cheers for your work.

The Atomic Tank is far from being the best, in fact it is actually the worst, here is my argument. Taking into account that each Tank power has its special mechanism to mitigate damage, I have tested each of them in the same situation several times until reaching the following conclusion. The test was carried out with CR 408 in the open world Dakota City, with the 3 bosses spawning simultaneously. (mamooth always because it was the one that dealt the most damage) Fire: I could heal myself and survive several attacks. Although it is very ugly for me to waste time applying cures. Ice: Since its power is based on absorbing damage, I could perform many blockbreaks and almost did not depend on any type of healing, although I could run out of shield from time to time. Rage: this shit was always very OP, you only die if you make a mistake when cutting the crash. Ground: With afteshocks similar to Ice, although it is annoying to waste time hitting the ground and sometimes we are left vulnerable. With the pet it can be fun, but in elite+ practices they die all the time so it is not sustainable. Atomic: If we dedicate ourselves to playing it with the aura damage absorption method, and we try to heal ourselves with a combo or the proton remedy, we will not last long, we receive hits while doing a combo and we will lose the cures, its Destiny shield is one of the most weak inside the other tanks. If you test the unique mechanism that each power has, you will see that the atomic one is the worst. But you must try it in the most difficult instances, otherwise they will all seem the same to you.

I have all those artifacts and I usually switch powers often to just test out the dps side of them, I’m a main mental and my dmg every 10s is 2.1mil to 2.5mil no buffs\supercharge, max cr max might, and I’ve hit in the 2+mils with basically all the powers, some powers are better at single target and others aoe range then melee but I usually just test the Range aoe with them and hit in the 2+mils, electric though is the only power I’ve hit in the 3mils with no super or buffs, range aoe. It blows my mind lol but mental is the power I really like or quantum.

Generally play this game for fun. I love recreating iconic loadouts. I'm very happy how my Shazam turned out and as a healer, you normally get easy access to all the content that needs more than one player. The iconic builds are not the strongest, but they are fun to play.

Whats crazy is I used solo 8 player bounties throughout every dcuo episode or dlc in the game before the stat clamp. Already having henchmen, supply drops, orbital strikes, gear mods, generator mods, some pets we really didn't need artifacts or allies. Its just another way to add monetization to a game who has recycled content for years.

Great video and u r 100% right. I wish you brought up the pvp aspect as well. Mental, gadgets can turn invisible and receive no damage in that mode. And artifacts in open world pvp are completely busted. The clarion mixed with demon fang artifact in open world is completely broken. If y’all don’t believe go in the watch tower at any time and duel anyone. It’s annoying.

One thing i realise everyone forget or dont talk about is that there are better powers than others. I mean most Powers require u to use Superspeed abilities or heat vision. but those Powers that are called "the best" dont need to use them. Its quite sad to see that u cant go only ur Power as a LO without losing incredible amount of DMG. The reason those Power dont need to use SS abilities or HV is because their abilities can do more dmg in general then SS abilities/HV. the powers aint balanced. which is sad. i wish we have to use only Power Abilities.

I’ll take less damage if I can finish the instance. Do mechanics. Make pickups. I see guys break their back to be top DPS and die a lot, pick no one up, get kicked from the instance. Btw, my damage is just fine. Always in the top 3 and never far behind.

Not to mention they'll literally avoid someones eog effect in order to avoid losing damage. Even tho it's in the groups interest to share damage and do more damage faster together. Heck. I think some arts like eog and more need some retuning to make them so they always work on the entire group rather than based on how close certain players are. And also. I believe the scorecard should just be done away with or just be retooled to make it so score card chasing is less of an issue.

Well 99 is basically just 80 so that would be bare minimum really, for the first rank bonus, but my minimum for alts (I have 17 toons) is 120. 120, 160, and 200 are the only ranks that actually make any real difference - to any role.

To repair I’ve been thinking about coming back, but I wanna just create a character that uses guns. I can’t find it any relationship to which weapons are good with which powers and more importantly, what would be a good power set to go with using a rifle or the dual pistols because I played a lot of these games and it’s been my opinion all along that you should play with you like, don’t worry about what’s best what’s matter what to be fair you’re never gonna reach. Most players aren’t never gonna reach that met status with the set of abilities and weapons. Anyway, it’s a gold shoot for that. Most casual players aren’t gonna see but while you’re getting there, you have to be enjoying what it is you’re doing, so you should pick weapons and gear and abilities that are fun that you like to use so I kind of been comparing and trying to find videos without having to do it manual online myself to figure out what is a practical combo and I got you know I have a feeling it’ll end up being gadget because you know guns gadgets on super power powered character, you know can’t be flying or speed running. It’ll probably have to be acrobatics gadgets and a gun but I I kinda looking for you know like a Dr or some character combination you know jokers some role-playing aspect that puts a power with guns and makes it a role-playing thing you know makes it right Quit trying to cater to the fallout 76 have a character that still uses shredder on a mini gun but the entire character is a food and I can do anything kill anything go anywhere in any content is just boring. Mostly I grind everything but if I decide to I have half a dozen different ways to kill stuff grenade, launcher, rocket launcher you know what I’m saying plus new grenades I mean in any kind of content I got some method of killing shit really quick and Fast, there’s nothing about it that’s it’s not even considered you know I mean it’s mostly a food bill everything on it is increasing Carey weight and making you know in increasing them on explosives I can carry the amount of heavy guns I can carry the amount of damage I can do overall with everything there’s there’s nothing about it and it’s got to the point where the game is just boring because there’s nothing in it challenging I suppose I could build the ultimate stealth commando but what would that prove I can watch 20 videos and they’ll all say the same things the videos will all show me all the same cards all the same weapons all the same everything will be the same but goddamnit. I can kill Earl in 18 seconds, righthow is that fun either I did I just don’t get what you enjoy to play that that’s what you gotta do. You’ll get the most enjoyment out of a game. If you pick in this case of power set that looks good to you a weapon that looks good companions that look good I mean you don’t have to be the best DPS or the best controller or whatever the best of anything you’re having fun that’s what matters.

Some Time ago i realize that the race to be the best DPS (Ask Ketchum syndrome as i like to call it) is pointless and only work to feed dev´s who still made lazy content episode after episode, I have some arts in 200 and other´s in 160. I haven't played this game in years. Recently reinstalled and was surprised my old characters are still there, but I forgot what most stuff does, plus there is so much new. Had a roundabout trip back. I saw that Champions Online is still somehow running. Tried it to see if it improved. It hasn't. Then that lead me to finding out City of Heroes has private servers now and has come back. Tried that , said, nope, still not that much fun. Too slow paced. The best power is quite literally celestial. Most versatile and damage still outperforms everything basekit with all end loadout. The only reasons other powers are winning dps battle because they’re abusing a bug with dead king scepter which will be patch eventually.

373 sounds about full regular gear, have you run elite for the renown enough to buy all the elite gear? from that it would just be the OP items like the back and neck that would raise your cr the last +2-3 levels

@@norbertrivera when you complete elite instances, in your on duty menu they will have the same name as the alerts/raids but will have (Elite) at the end you earn renown which you collect over time and that will allow you to purchase the better gear from the vendor in death metal washington. Different amounts of renown will unlock different elite gear

Nowadays i just make a battle tank and run all the dailys and solo any bosses i can. Worrying about top dps causes alot of group fails so i give up replaying raids due to failed groups and heavy reliant and forced build usage. I use mystic symbol of seven with lazarus pit and transformation card. I dont do the most damage in the world but at least i can complete missions by myself for source marks. I gave up caring for end game raids and top dps because it was stressful and failed. Being top dps doesnt make you the best player especially if your dying. I feel its most important getting source marks than top dps

Honestly my big takeaway from this video is that not only can you play an ape with eye lasers, but you can do pretty well as an ape with eye lasers. You should just do a quick five minute video on laser ape just in case people don't watch this video, that way everybody knows you can play and ape that shoots lasers from their eyes.

Hi there, I play on PS4 (no PS4 Plus) for free with 2 characters. But now I want to create more characters without paying membership every month. I see two options but am not sure which one works or is worthy. (1) Spent $500 marketplace money to get 6 characters and buy 3 power sets. Are the new power sets permanent for use without a membership? I mean, can I keep using the new characters with the new powers? Are the 3 new powers always available whenever I create a new character (within the limit of 6, of course)? (2) Get membership for 1 month. That I know will give me access to all powers and 16 characters. Imagine I create 10 characters with 10 new powers. When my membership expires, do I automatically become Premium and have access to 6 out of 10 newly created characters with the new powers? Or do I need to spend $500 marketplace money still to become Premium and before getting the membership? Hope my questions are clear. Thanks for your help! 🙏🏻

that nature one proves that as a DPS power it's under-performing if it relies so heavily on Strat Art to be any good at all not just viable. Yes Arts make a giant difference agree completely. but EOG spaming killed nature for the long haul. unless of course you have the money to get the arts to make it doable

See the thing is people use wrong arts, you have to use arts catering to the loadout you run, what I call the dc philosophers will tell you trans, strat and amp for all dps but you can't use that set up for every dps, look for arts that increase every move in your loadout and not a art that only boost one move, my arts boost every move and my super charge but again it all depends on your powerset

With all you said. Should I stay Gadgets (I dont't clip or go stealth or have max Art) or switch to Electricity. Elect seems more my speed other than being a healing spec. All my controller stuff will be wasting (time investment). What do you suggest?

Am just trying to play with my friends and do raids and get outfit like you got but I just want a head start but I dont care about being the best dps in the leaderboards just looking to do respond if you can good damage for missions with the guys

If they would change omnipotent gear to increase like the armor on Destiny 2 it would save players a lot of time

I'm so thankful the amazotron mercy artifact came. My absolute all time favorite power is water but the base damage power, even rotation is just slow and trash, now its possible to dps on any powerset with pets. Let me say, this isn't acceptable, all powers should be viable by themselves, i PERSONALLY like pets, but they need to do better to balance all the powers, especially healer role.

@@ObsidianChill i agree. The more money i put into it the more dps i output. Goes for ingame currency as well. Since im mainly a solo player i havent done much elite content so had to pay for the tier 3 pets through broker. Got lucky copping seahorse t3 for only 250m

Hey Obsidian, I wanted to ask something. So I played DCUO when mods were the main thing to boost your stats and when they recently introduced artifacts, played before stats revamp too. So I'm watching this video trying to understand, are allies and artifacts A MUST for this game. I also want to ask because I don't know the bread and butter but if artifacts and allies pay to win or is it stuff for the 1% gamer who wants his stats higher than the average joe. I just want to ask are my days of getting gear and working though that over?

Nvm, I think around 13:12 you explain the damage difference pretty well, so with artifacts and allies you garner 30 mill damage but with no artifacts or allies its 18 mill (pretty much half). Yeah I just wanted to know that because I want to do free to play with little spending to just have fun using different powers and doing missions.

Thanks for the informative video -- it kind of clears the air considering how toxic some seasoned players can be against new players. I'm returning to DCUO, I still rock the original powers like ice and I use to swap out powers to test out different roles. My top favorite roles are tank and healer, but like you said it's about having fun and enjoying the powers/missions/characters etc. It's not worth spending 1000s in a game, eventually with time you'll max out and then when the next DLC drop, you just do it all again: grind, upgrade, repeat.

Best DPS used to be Magic before they nerfed the HELL out of the pet years ago. I think a lot of people complained about it. I used to be ridiculous on PS3 with my Doctor Strange character. This was long before Artifacts and Allies were even a thing... Back when suit mods and SP were what made you strong 😂
