Ocarina of Time Randomizer - Max Shuffle, No Logic

Recently I've been doing a lot of Max Shuffle/No Logic randomizers to try and actually get good at them, experiment with tournament-style rule sets, and try to get a low average time. Because I'm doing a lot I'm not uploading them all to this channel, but I thought this was a nice run worth uploading.

"Max Shuffle" is the same as "Max Random Item settings", just a better name some people have been using.
Settings/Rules for this:
All randomizable items on (475 checks total)
Only entrances randomized are dungeons
8 out of 9 Dungeon rewards required for Ganon Boss Key (so 7/8 dungeons required)
Mask shop open from beginning + fast bunny hood
Start with Suns Song/Prelude (just to avoid waiting)

@@steveneaton9611 This was my first video game ever. I played it when I was a really young child (like almost toddler) roughly 4-6 years old. I remember not being able to read when I first played it, so I had my grandpa sit down next to me and read the dialogue and try to explain what some of the words meant. Needless to say I don't think I ever actually accomplished anything in the game at that age, but it inspired me to learn to read before any of my friends could and once I could finally read and my brain was a bit more developed to understand puzzles, I finally beat the game. I also had Majora's Mask so my childhood memories of the two games merged into some weird amalgamation of locations and features from the two games. I owe a lot to OoT and MM, they were foundational to my childhood

I don't see it being any different from the overworld textures. Both are there in the effort of saving time otherwise ZFG is going to be hovering everywhere just to get a Blupee or bundle of arrows.

there's an amount of anticipation that's still there, the big chests can still be disappointing with stuff like ammo upgrades. I don't think it makes things less exciting, plus it speeds things up

I know this is a small detail, but please consider including the date of a given run/playthrough in either the title or description of full-length uploads like this... I got to dampe race before realizing I'd already watched this on the vod channel. Even if said channel already has such info and the momentary confusion I experienced today is inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, it's still probably not a bad idea to have it somewhere. Thanks for the runs and edits! P.S I only discovered the vod channel like 3 days ago because youtube specifically recommended the double-feature archive containing this run to me, otherwise I would have ended up watching all of it here.

It's good to see you using the bunny hood, starting with sun's song and prelude. That's my preferred playstyle and I always felt guilty for it. But seeing you use that playstyle makes me feel better about starting with those songs. It really speeds up the pacing on tokensanity.

yeah each full heart is 8 seconds on the timer, and i believe its because they couldnt program a way for link to take damage without a damage animation, so they put a timer, and you just died when it ran out. i could be wrong.

I saw someone on KZbin doing something similar who goes by “Stonee Bad Luck” where he’s also doing max random no logic with sun song and prelude start. Perhaps a four way race? Dry, Volv, ZFG, this other guy? Maybe some people from the speedrun community could work to set up a tournament where it’s based on ZFG’s randomizer settings but with scrubs and bosses randomized as well? Seems like it would be a fun race.

As a viewer, I feel that the chests take something away from the experience. I like it when you open the chest and we have NO idea what's about to come out of it. It's the fun dramatic moment. Giving an idea of what's in the chest takes away from that drama. And, even worse, it gives you a reason to skip some of the chests (and thus some of the drama) entirely. But, I get that as the streamer who is doing several dozen of these runs, you'd like for there to be a way to cut some time off.

Its a different glitch known as quick put away, which gives your sword a glitched damage value, which can then be combined with ISG kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKGYm2asZ56dkM0

So does using a deku nut set your crouch stab to use fire to burn webs or is there something else happening between nut and sword

Its a glitch known as "quick put away", where I try to put the deku stick away and then interrupt it with a deku nut. The game then sees link as having no item in hand, then by breaking the deku stick while like supposedly has no item, it ends up giving you a glitched damage value that includes many different damage types all in one, with one of them being fire damage.
