I bought and watched the two installation videos from Simonis. They suggest a much more detailed process that involves determining the stretch index for the cloth and marking the cloth so the side to side stretch is 3/4" less than maximum stretch. The ends get the maximum stretch. They also make precise marks along the side pockets for proper alignment. The markings on the anchor side and slightly different than the stretch side. They also suggest installing all staples in the side of the wood, not under it. As a last step, they make and install some pocket trim pieces to cover the staples inside the pockets.

@pooltables2u i see. i live in texas and glue hasnt caused me any problems however the staples that held my cloth tight did ripped the cloth. of course my pool table is in my living room and not in my garage so i dont see as heat being an issue. but whatever floats your boat. i dont recover pool tables professionally so i wouldnt know what stands the test of time. but glue has made me a believer

@Insane82chevy Staples do not rip the clothe over time. Bad staples and cheap cloth, maybe.

He also didn't check the Simoni web sight, if he had he wouldn't have used 3m 77 spray, Simonis says 2 use 3m 20272 Neoprene Contact Adhesive 10 light yellow, n a can, not spray available, roll on or brush on !!

Terry Harris We recover these tables at this place every 6 months. Removing staples from electric staple guns tears up the wood Slate liners. After a few years the Slate liners are so deteriorated the staples don't hold well. Is it possible for people to believe that there could possibly be more than 1 right way to do something? Oh wait... This is KZbin... Never mind. LOL

...or replace the backer. Wood and glue. Simple. Even a manual stapler will tear up the slate backer over time.

yeah dude staples always rip the cloth over time. glue might be messy but it does a better job

I've been working on tables since 1980, I have never come across cloth being torn due to stapling. Pockets, yes, but that is due to improper preparation of the pocket area.

First of all, this work should be done with proper tools, the stapler he uses might work for a do it yourself home table, no for a professional installer, get the electric EWC-5018A Duo-Fast stapler, it will help you better and you will look like if you know how to do it. I can imagine you making a carom table where precision and accuracy is more required as well as extreme stretching...Good luck

How the **** would the type of stapler make a difference in the stretching of the material? The hand stapler is more than adequate for strength, doesn't have the issues with cords, and rarely, if ever, jams. (Unlike the Duo-Fast). The guy in the video knows exactly what he is doing.

I’ve recovered tables for years and just because he’s not using an electric or air gun doesn’t mean shit! Using a manual stapler is fine
