OCEAN BASKETS - My Food Journey - Pt 2

Hi guys, I just had to visit the OCEAN BASKET during my short visit to South Africa. And, not only 1 Branch but, 3 Branches!! The OCEAN BASKET is Africa’s largest Seafood Franchise that serves Mediterranean Inspired Seafood Dishes. The quality of the seafood and the generous portions have made this franchise extremely popular. Ocean Basket has been one of SA’s great franchising success stories. In 1995, FATS LAZARIDES, who was then an employee at a supermarket, opened the first Ocean Basket store with only R800! Since then it has grown from 1 to more than 200 stores around the globe. It just proves that IF YOU BELIEVE IN YOURSELF you can SUCCEED!
Before writing this summary, I googled to learn more about this franchise I always loved visiting while still living in SA. And, what a surprise it was to read that their success is based on the 3 things I mentioned in my 1st video, and that are very important to me, namely

I love Ocean Basket as well, I live in Cyprus, and we have these here. But honestly, the prices are quite high. One platter costs around 40-50 euros, which can be okay here in Europe, but how can people in Africa afford this? This is a mystery to me.

Hi Thank you for watching my video, and also for taking the time to write a comment. Seafood Platters here in Taiwan is also very expensive. So, when we paid R315 and R360 for platters in South Africa, it was only 540 TWD and 617 TWD. I have not ordered a Seafood Platter in Taiwan because it is very, very expensive. If there is lobster on the platter it can cost as much as 2 680 TWD! Cyprus is also expensive because if you convert 40/45/50 Euro it would be R799 in S.A. and 1 370, 1 541 & 1 712 TWD.
