I have started watching the Supply Refresher and I am finding it very well done. However, on the Trace Supply & Out of Supply slide and commentary there is an error. It is stated that units out of trace supply cannot attack. That is not correct. An out of trace supply unit CAN attack, at half strength, if it has Combat Supply. I assume that will almost always be via using Internal Stocks too! So many layers in the OCS supply system onion 🙂

The Breakout Attempts slide and narration misses a key point about the first turn an out of supply unit makes a Breakout Attempt. On that very first turn a unit finds itself out of trace supply the system forces some critical decisions but also gives a little bit of a 'bonus' (probably to reflect the encirclement/out of supply state is happening over several days at this game scale). The 'bonus' is the two conditions for A) a path clear of enemy units/ZoCs and B) a friendly combat unit in trace supply within 15 hexes is waived on that first turn. I also believe the intent is Transport Points that are out of trace supply can only attempt to Breakout on that first turn. If they opt to stay in an out of supply situation after the first turn, they can no longer attempt Breakout as it is normally limited to combat units. There is a lot of details packed into 12.8e!

As someone who is relatively new to OCS, I love these refreshers to help reinforce concepts that I may have been unsure of. Please keep them coming! VERY helpful, and your channel is the only one that I have found that is going through this. Love how you use examples from the actual games as well!

Thanks Chad. You are exactly my target audience (well you and my future-self that keeps on forgetting this stuff). Hoping the next one, which is just in redrafting and illustrating, will be out next weekend. It'll over the fog of war in OCS, what is legal to disguise and how to mitigate it to some extent.

OCS is usually one level up from BCS. Divisional vs Battalion. So it can represent much larger battles. Unfortunately, probably can’t revamp the OCS supply system without changing game balance, so it is what it is. Love both systems though. And BTW: Your videos are the absolute best.

Can easily add the distinction between fuel and ammo for the games where it is really necessary - like Baltic Gap - and apparently Smolensk.
