My dad was at this game. I wasn't even born yet. He also was at the final games of the 1984 and 1986 NBA Finals. He worked as a court officer and he knew the judge that presided the case where Reggie Lewis's wife sued his doctor for malpractice.

1:35 This is when they got rid of the "forearm on a dribbler" rule. And they couldn't stop old Jordan. So a young Jordan today, would not be fair. Stop playing with this man!

bruce bowen was labelled as an elite defender simply because he didn't have to spend much of his career depending a guy name jordan. he was never nearly as good as pippen or jordan or rodman as an on ball/team defender. i would even rate doug christie as a better defender than bowen.

he had foot surgery shortly before the season started and missed about 1/2 the season. Rodman also missed some time. Jordan played the most minutes this season since the 1992 season.
@drlight6677

@@edmondlau511 Kukoc missed over 20 games with a bad foot and Longley also missed a similar number of games with a bad knee, missing the end of the season and the first round of the playoffs against the Nets. That 98 Bulls team was old, tired and beat up. Should've lost to the Pacers in Game 7 had the Pacers not choked and ditto against the Jazz in Game 6 (I won't even mention the horrible whistle on Eisley's 3 pointer or Harper's 3 that should've been waved off).
@edmondlau511
@edmondlau511 3 жыл бұрын
@@drlight6677 Harper was actually a 2 point shot because I remember Doug Collins saying how it ended up being a 5 point swing. I mean, if you look at it in a linear way, that means the Jazz would've won but the reality is if those baskets were called correctly, the following plays would've been ran differently. The Davis boys absolutely ran rough shot over the Bulls in the '98 ECF. No way Kukoc could guard either of them even though neither was known for their offense. Rodman had aged significantly. If the '98 championship team had stayed intact, I don't think they beat the Spurs in '99 as is. Duncan and Robinson (though past his prime was way better than any center the Bulls had) were just too much for the Bulls to handle. If the Bulls had added a big forward, that combined with the shortened season for the older players to rest, I think they take the Spurs in '99. Your thoughts?
@drlight6677
@drlight6677 3 жыл бұрын
@@edmondlau511 It would've been a super close series in '99 against the Spurs if the Bulls stayed together. If the Bulls were able to squeak out a victory, there's absolutely no way they would've been able to win another Finals after that going up against the Lakers. I guess against the Spurs in '99 it really depends on how healthy they were and how youthful they played, as they were all basically at the twilight of their careers and would all be retired by the end of the 2002 season.
@edmondlau511
@edmondlau511 3 жыл бұрын
@@drlight6677 Agreed, no way they beat Lakers in 2000. But then again, Phil Jackson couldn't be coach for both teams and if he wasn't coach of the Lakers, do they still manage to win 3 in a row? I don't know, that's a whole different discussion. But he somehow managed to get Kobe and Shaq on the same page for 3 in a row before losing to the Pistons. While I believe there are likely better X's and O's coaches, Phil Jackson's strongest asset was his ability to mesh different personalities together and control egos.
