Hey Malo once again fantastic beat as always and really stoked to see you enjoying the octatrack. Heres a hot tip that opened a whole new world to me on the octa. You can live record into new patterns in real-time by starting the recording on pattern one then switching to the next empty pattern and continue your performance. you can do this across 16 patterns creating whole sections and variations of a beat. with 64 slices total the combos are endless. Keep in mind if you have pattern length to per track the e length might be a bit messed up on your next pattern but if all patterns are 4 bars long you can make and create your tracks in 4 bar variations doing it all live and then editing the steps after you jam it in. You can also then switch the sample to another one and it keeps the slice markers and playback trigs. So you can make some fun variations and if you have the Part saved you can just reload the part to get you original beat back. It is very dope. Happy turkey day! Blessings

Oh man, thank you so so much for the input. I really need to try this. That really would save so much time and also keep the vibe going as I’m coming up with ideas without having to do too much settings. thank you for this. Happy thanksgiving to you and your family.

@@lucidekoninghI'm glad I can help open her up to others, The ocatrack is one of the most unique tools on the market for music production. I think the learning cruve people talk about is a little to hyped up, you just have to sit down think and understand what you want to accomplish and then set up accordingly. Following this up here's a small run down of one of the ways I use the OT. Octatrack has tracks 1-4 with samples. Track 1-4 can be a combination of Flex machines (with samples in flex slot or recording buffers), Static Machines or pick up machines (haven't gotten into pickups yet but same theory). I have a master pattern length of 4 bars on every pattern 1-16. You can do fun polymetric stuff though if you use pattern length to per track and utilize some odd time signatures. Though you have to preset pattern lengths or they default to 16 steps. Track 5 is a thru machine which runs my 404mk2 as a effects loop mainly but I can also do aux duties for other samples if I need them (404 has a terrible midi implementation that doesn't like to play with others not impossible but takes some fiddling). Track 6 is a thru machine for my Deluge which is doing drums and synth duties. Track 7 is a neighbor machine to process track 6. Track 8 is a master track with oscilloscope via Marcos tutorial which is fantastic page for learning octa! You can also swap the thru machines and use flex machine as thru machine if you want to get experimental and have access to the playback (pitching) page of the octa for any other gear you have coming in. If you use the flex route you can do some wild live mangling of the signal but still keep a clean parallel signal on your neighbor machine. Chop and prep your samples. Set your pattern lengths and then hit live record and switch patterns every 4 bars. You can then do this for every track you need weather its slices, chromatic or just one shots and playback. When you get good at it you can switch to the next pattern without a gap in your performance and have seamless transitions. But because you are recording you can wait for the next 4 bar cycle and then continue. when you are done capturing your performance press Play to stop recording and keep the sequencer running or stop to stop everything. This is my staple for both studio work and live remix sets. PS. This is all with 1 bank and 1 part you have 16 panks and 4 parts.... I will leave you to think about it ;). if you set up 1-4 as flex machines you can do the EZBOT performance stuff once you have scene set up as well :D. Happy Hunting!!

Great, as you said, this is not every one's music but i love to see octatrack in action. Maybe you could make a video about the live resampling function of the octatrack and manipulate the digitone in realtime? That would definitely be fun to watch.

I enjoyed my MPC more sense it has infinite options when it comes down to the music making process, but the octa track seems to have this very unique approach to sampling and sequencing drums that brings out this other side of me . If I had to pick one it would be the MPC

Man you make me list for an Octatrack again. I had two. Mk1 and 2. But I couldn’t get by the fact that it didn’t record note length in chromatic mode. Also I just realized at 12:00 you sound like Mike Shinoda
@malobeats Жыл бұрын
Oh man, this is a compliment, lol. I know exactly what you mean, it took me a while to get my head wrapped around the whole note length issue. I kept doing research over and over thinking I was the one Trippin, but looks like that’s one of the biggest limitations for me especially when I’m adding bass.
