Master class on the relationship between tight drum and bass parts. Also, Portnoy is not only a beast of a drummer, he is a relatable drummer who inspires so many to pick up sticks and play....

Nice to also hear the bass tracks. If you don't have the drum DVDs from Mike, this is indeed a completely new way of enjoying this song. Thank you!

Meh, adds some personality to the take. Overanalyzing stuff like that can drive you mad, and actually people pointing stuff out like that is the reason JP does (or at least did for a while) his guitar parts in a less organic sounding way now. He got "busted" for punching in the arpeggios on Glass Prison because he was recording with his real time delay and someone pointed out that you could hear the delay trails not lining up, indicating that he punched in the part. I swear, you'd think he punched the pope in the face people were just appalled that he punched those in. So, now he records (or at least did for a while, not 100% on what he's doing these days) with a dry tone then delays and other effects were usually added later. Takes a lot of character out of the performance when you're not playing to the end result IMO.

1) DT2BLZ is one of the widows of portnoy ... no friend will not return let him go ... after the last album Mangini was consolidated forever 2) DT sounded clearly different before, this is due to the Portnoy effect ...,his ability to compose, his incredible memory, his exquisite progressive groove, his bad boy personality, his continued need to stand out and more control of his sound. Yes, it sounded different... 3) However, after mangini this sounds like a 10 year old novice playing drums..Mangini can be connecting more with the team and sounding better and better .. but you cannot ask portnoy to have these skills,

Who’s asking for his return? I love to watch portnoy play drums, hence, I upload videos of him playing drums. Ive been a DT fan for as long as i can remember. I’ve cried, laughed, and experienced almost any emotion by listening to DT. My fav 2 albums are ToT and OCT, i think that DT achieved another level with those 2 albums. How dare you come to my channel and call me a “portnoy widow”, when I’ve also uploaded Mangini compilations? I’ve noticed my portnoy uploads are the most popular videos. I wont say why, i have my own opinions, and the fact that portnoy’s videos are so popular should say a thing or two. If i see that I upload a LaBrie video, and gets 2-3k, and then I upload a portnoy video and gets 20+k views, what do you think i will do? Also, there are not a lot of mangini’s drumcams ( he has been uploading some live videos, but no videos from studio)

1) lol 2) Yes, and for some better. 3) what?

3) It doesn't matter, Mangini has never WROTE anything relevant on the D. T. catalog, so in the writing departament he is the 10 year old novice.
