Back at my apartment, you put on our song,
And as Melissa sang, we both sang along.

As the moon peeked in.

Saturday morning I crept out of bed.

Or so the guy told us.
We rented movies and ordered Chinese.

But Sunday night came, and as hard as we tried,
We couldn’t be happy, so we gave up and cried.
And I felt this emptiness deep down inside,
That still lingers on.
I took you to the airport and tried to be brave.
I said you looked like hell, and needed a shave.
I mustered a smile and said, “Try to behave,
‘Til next time I see you.”
A quick awkward hug, and a “see you later.”
I watched you disappear as I went down the escalator.
If there’s a sadness that’s any greater,
I don’t want to know it.
