Octopath Traveler 2 | 2-Manning Both Phases of the Secret Boss Fight (Untouched, Full Fight)

Don't mind Osvald; he absolutely INSISTED on watching even though I told him he wasn't allowed to participate. For those that actually want to know why I didn't have him at 0, it was simply because you can't swap out KO'ed party members at the tavern, and since you need at least one person with health in the party, I wasn't able to fully knock out the four people I wasn't using. As such, I just had him defend the entire phase one where the boss is never able to attack us, and where his ability to spot a weakness doesn't actually influence the fight like it would phase two where he could be considered an extra target or increase Lionheart Axe damage by showing a weakness.

And before you ask, yes some RNG is involved, but only on the second phase. First phase can be done 100% of the time using this strategy. For phase two, turn two basically dictates how it will go, as it's entirely possible for Hikari to go first, meaning he has to Hienka to go at the end/after the main body, then pray to the gods that the appendages don't either seal his physical abilities, or do the triple magic hit attack. As long as Hikari can go after the main body on turn two, the chances of succeeding are pretty high.
For those who are looking for a guide on this boss, I made one here, but it's worth noting that since I didn't use subclasses in this guide, the strategy I used in this 2-man post with Throne in the first phase that requires her as a cleric is a good way to pass phase 1 as a general rule:

It’s because Hikari had the dancer divine skill still on him, which turns single target abilities into multi target

That would require to off IT in 1 turn which at 1 HP at lv 99 is easily doable.

For me personally, I used Alrond at the infernal castle. Basically I put on everything that boosts xp, cait, and rare monster rate, then ran from fights until I got either a cait or the mini boss. I’d then use all of Alrond’s charges until I either got 100xXP or reloaded my save if I didn’t get it during his 6 charges. That being said, 99 is mega overkill for this boss if that’s what you’re trying to do. 55 is actually plenty. I just got to 99 because I wanted to see the max number

Both Temenos and Throne will cast a debuff/buff on all enemies/entire team if you fight enemies at night. Just make sure it’s night when you start the fight.

For the axe mon, there are a few options, but you can get one of the lizard men in the Sunken Maw. For the Peak-a-Boo, go to Southern Timberain Trail.

That is because of Alpione's Amulet. It's an accessory that makes you deal more damage the lower your health is, and it is a substantial amount of damage. Allows me to one shot him with Limb from Limb.

@@Zephlo97 if you go to Gravell after Ochette’s story, Alpione will be there with a side quest. To complete it, simply go left out of town, down the stairs, inquire the NPC, then go back to Alpione. As far as what goes in that slot, you could do the +50 physical power if you need it, the one that makes you crit more when an enemy is down (assuming you are breaking enemies), or just a straight +50 crit

My hikari has the same items and does not even 30% of your dmg. Maybe its cause he is low lvl. 66. Ι even have sword/dagger with even more dmg but still to no avail

I think I replied on another post, but something I didn't specifically mention there is that if you are using EXACTLY the same build as my Hikari (abilities, subclasses, support skills, and gear) while having roughly the same or higher physical attack and critical and are not hitting the same damage numbers as me, then it means you aren't doing one of the following: 1. Buffing Hikari's physical attack in battle 2. Debuffing the enemies physical defense 3. Using fully charged (3 BP) attacks As a side note, keep in mind that exposing enemy weaknesses can also increase Lionheart's Axe damage if you are using that. If you still aren't quite sure why it isn't working out, I'd be happy to link up via discord to go over it when I'm not at work.

@@DarrinNewcomer Finally it worked hikari did 99+99K and 1 shot the hands. But unfortunately after that galdera played 3 times in a row and wiped me. Progress at least

@@orfeas2335 The secret to dealing with that is to use the Cleric divine on Agnea so she goes after the main body becomes vulnerable. Then she can use Windy Refrain to push his 4 moves to the end of the turn. Throw in another Cleric divine on Hikari or use Hienka to get him to go at the end of the turn too, then you can have 2 Hikari attacks on the main body before he gets a chance to do anything.

@@DarrinNewcomer Aaaah almost man...god damn i did that...all was left was main galdera debuffed without arms, Had hikari buffed and everything , did lion strike like 160 k but was not enough..just barely not enough...has to be a level issue...got to level him more no other way around it :(

@@orfeas2335 So I recommend checking out the end of my DPS guide video. Just click the time stamp to go straight to the bosses, then go to phase 2. I show a way that allows Hikari to get 2 attacks off before the boss gets any of his attacks off, so that last little bit you were missing you can get on the second attack.

I'm not even at the final boss, but some characters lack damage. So I see people getting to 90-99k damage with lower level. My Throne is on 74 or so and her highest was aeber with 81k or so with over 700 speed. Even Hikari with Brands only did 68k with physical buff and 999 physical dmg while others hit 90k easily. He even used a battle tested weapon. Could this be because of not enough crit dmg? Even my Ochette with a load of crit stat kinda disappoints. Kinda new to the franchise btw. @@lost_in_nightcity I was running into the same issue, it may be more because of potency increasing weapons and crit. I couldnt hit those numbers on the first phase adds until i added in a battle tested sword to my Throne, and then she was able to 1 shot them reliably.
