Octopus Reacts to Kitchenware - Episode 17

In today's episode of octopus reacts, Willie is taken to a place no octopus should ever visit under any other circumstance. A kitchen!
The octopus in this video is Willie. He's a very curious and adventurous little octopus that leaves no stone unturned. One of his arms was completely severed off when he arrived. The regeneration stage we see here is nearing 1 month in. It takes them about 3-4 months to fully grow back an arm and enjoy full functionality.

He really liked that nutcracker. He kept going back to it over and over again. I think he was mad that it was once closed and now it's open and he couldn't figure out how to close it again. It took him a second attempt to figure it out.

If you guys have run out of ideas, here's one for you: repeat the colorful cloth experiment with different octopuses to see if octopuses have a favorite color. You could carry the experiment across a couple of videos to use different objects in matching colors (ie balls, toys) to see if they select the same favorite color each time (if they actually have a fav that is). You could even test different shades of the color if you really wanted to.

There was a study done where they covered a squids eyes and it would move around when a shadow passed over it. I assume it’s for when they are hiding and have their heads covered so they can tell if a predator is still there

I think so. On another channel I watch that has a series on octopus, the researcher says the octopus looks him directly in the eyes and he can see the intelligence of the animal. It's called Octopus in My Living Room.
