No, it was a Strat, bridge pickup. A Tele has way too much attack for that sound. You are sitting on your ears! Being photographed playing a guitar on a day doesn't mean you recorded a song with it. I had three guitars in my hands today and I'm not even recording or a member of the Beatles. He probably started off with the Tele and then saw it sounded better with the Strat (which it does).

@@tobisteffen not the bridge pickup on either, it has the hollower tone of a neck pickup (bridge pickup would sound sharper with more attack). You can get a neck pickup to sound quite bright (almost like a bridge pickup) if you EQ it properly. Just look at all the other guitar covers of this song, it is indeed possible to get that tone with the neck pickup on a Strat or a Tele.

Hardly any of the covers get the tone right :D On any Beatles song. It might be possible on the neck pickup. But i think a Tele has too much attack - it must be smooth. No chicken attack. @@mr_bassman6685

I know the Rick and Hofner have very different designs but I always thought it was quite easy to get the late Beatles tone out of a Hofner. I suppose it's Paul's playing style (lots of palm muting) and flatwounds that give the main impression of the sound. And you can get a fair amount of treble out of a Hofner actually if you want it to :)

Welcome back Ably House! I've missed seeing you guys! I always wondered whether George used Rocky or his Rosewood Tele on this song, I'm curious on how you figured he used both. Also, is that you playing the bass, Andrew, or is that Neil? And did Paul not use his Rickenbacker 4001S on this song?

Paul used his Ric and yes that is me in the video, Neil has been busy and not interested in making videos right now. Hence the long gap in posting. Most sources state that it’s the Strat. This usually happens when there is a single photo of a session and everyone gets all confident about what they used. I recorded this on Rocky and the Tele and found the tele to be closer as it bites a bit harder. Especially for the solo, which was done live

@@beatlesfan2884 Good! We moved into a new house and just finished the basement in January. All the reverb you hear on the track is natural room sound from the new place. I think that adds a lot of the beatle-excitement and glues things together. I have been recording a second album of The Knee HI’s, a second original Ably House album, The Jett Girls first album (I’m playing lead guitar in this one, 3 tracks on Spotify) and a few other projects. Recording hasn’t stopped, only posting has. Now that the studio is finished I’ll be going through all our unfinished projects and posting more regularly
