The thing that really sold me on how well Air Link worked compared to VD was Google Earth. I had button mapping issues and couldn't even use the Oculus version, had to use Steam VR every time then swap hands and change the mapping, it would also stutter and get very blurry because of the data coming through for loading Google Earth but Air Link launches the native Oculus Store version with no issues and hardly ever gets blurry and keeps a very steady frame rate. I've also run my Quest 2 battery flat a couple times a day playing Lone Echo via Air Link, it never quite worked well for me with VD either but Air Link works flawlessly and ASW definitely helps haha. I am using VD for 120hz though for some games, that's really impressive and works decently. Guy is amazing and wish he and other devs like the ALVR team got more recognition for their work in proving this is a feature that worked well and people want it. VD is useful and will be for some time yet

Overall, Airlink seems like a shittier version of VD really, at least in ease of use. (For a non content creator) I know what I will be staying with. Best 20€ I ever spent. I am frustrated everytime I have to use link mode and use the crappy interface instead of VD

do you really need your pc connected with ethernet cable to the router? isn't wifi enough?
@jameskyler54412 жыл бұрын
I have played with it using a pc wirelssly connected to my network. I have 2 gaming pc's and the one with the better specs unfortunately isn't hardwired to my router. ROuter pc Ryzen 2600x and GTX1070 16gb ram, wireless pc 3900x , RTX2070 Super, 32gb ram. USing the wireless pc is a better experience due to the specs.

@@jameskyler5441 I tried wireless connection and it sucks. The PC is quite OK (with i9 and rtx2060). I'll try to wire the PC to the router, maybe it will help but is not very convenient (5m cable across the apartment)

When I Record a PC VR Video on my youtube Channel i use PC Wired Link, But when i play without recording i use Wireless, i did tested the Virtual Desktop, Now i need to Try the Official Oculus Air Link, Thank you so much for making this Video!

I tried to compare it last night when I finally got the update, but my PC was also uploading a big video to KZbin so it was hard to attribute performance drops to either air link or VD. Anecdotally, Beat Saber felt smoother on air link than it has in the past for me on VD, but I haven't tried to use 120 hz mode on VD yet.

Hi man, can you do a review for Airlink VS HTC Vive wireless Adapter? Right now I'm really confused on which one to pick. I want to play PC VR but wireless. And I'm not sure If I should go with Oculus Quest 2 Airlink.....I own the original HTC Vive, and I am thinking to purchase the vive wireless adapter to use with my Vive purely for the 110° POV. And my wallet only enough for buying Vive wireless adapter or Quest 2 🙏🙏🙏 thanks before

Official air link is out in the experimental tab, at least for me. And it kicks ass. Through my 50mbps internet i can basically get the oculus link experience, just without the cable.

Did you just include the video captured from the PC for this review? Why didn't you use the video recording functionality from the headset? That was the point of the review wasn't it? Not trying to be rude about it either, I can see how you may of done this out of habit, and please reply to my comment if I'm wrong also as there appears to be a mixture of experiences regarding all this
