To be fair, the 675R is a significantly more expensive bike. I would've chosen it over my 2013 636 when I bought it new but I couldn't afford it. For the money the Ninja is still the best super sport there is, at least in my opinion.

I considered all three of these last time I went bike shopping. I ended up buying a Triumph Street Triple, which is the naked version of the Daytona 675.
@fahdkhan30316 жыл бұрын
I upgraded from a ninja 650 to a Suzuki 750. I almost bought the triumph Daytona, but Suzuki ended up winning for me, I found its just more comfortable. Also it comes with things OEM that I would have have to buy afterwards on the Daytona ie. Turn signal mirrors, rear turning lights are built in and spaced well so no need to buy a integrated rail light. My buddy has the 30th anniversary edition 636. We don't have a track here in Calgary. But on the streets we both love our bikes. Bottom line all 3 bikes are awesome. Buy what you like. Btw Daytona is the most rare bike out of the 3 and then 750 and 636 are common imo.
@UvidCo5 жыл бұрын
The triumph is very under rated. Plus that sound is awesome.
@tosgem9 жыл бұрын
The triumph is not an "odd ball" displacement, the 636 and 750 are - they can't be raced in any major categories. But supersports racing allows 600cc 4cyl, 675cc 3cyl, and 750cc 2 cyl. This is why manufacturers pick one of those three configs. Ducati used to make the 748 and 749 twins. Other companies used to make 675 triples, today it's just Triumph and MV. And of course, many companies make 600cc 4 cyls, that's the most common. But none of those are "oddball" sizes.

TheMesaRedneck in this case, yes I do. I can back up all my claims with evidence. Anyone can with 2 seconds of googling. Are you going to ignore all that and say "yeah, but motorcycle.com said it was an oddball size in one of their videos!" Just one fucking example dude. Look at this page, 675cc 3cyl MV Augusta competing with the 600cc 4cyls in the 2015 world supersports championship. : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_Supersport_World_Championship . There are no Kawasaki 636's there, there are no GSXR750's there. Because they are oddball sizes. Go through the championships for others years, you will see Triumph daytona 675's, MV Augusta's, in the late 90's and early 2000's you will see 750 twin cyls. The information is all out there, easily accessible to anyone with a brain.

@DwNecrid8 жыл бұрын
+weljo2001 out of curiosity. what was the reason that would make the insurance so much higher than the higher displacement gsxr. Where i live they just sort all bikes by their displacement, 111-400/401-750/751-1150/1151 and up. More displacement more it should be, shouldnt it?

Maintenance costs are almost always $85 per hour and for parts, except for bike specific, they are pretty much the same across the board. Nissin brakes costs the same no matter what bike and the same for Brembo(my ducs Brembo pads are $90 a caliper no diff between rear, front right or left. You will run into instances where(like the Ducati StreetFighter) the rim sizes severely limit your tire choices, so that's a good place to research how much do you want to spend on a rear vs how you will ride

Not sure how it is in the states, but Kawasaki Australia sells the ZX6R and the ZX636 along side each other. ZX6R aimed at track use with the 636 more a road bike. So, at least here in Australia, the ZX636 doesn't replace the ZX6R.
@MrAndrew19536 жыл бұрын
I'd vote for the Kawasaki because it sounds like the most fun and most forgiving. I've had a wide variety of road,trail,adventure bikes including two CBR600s. 1995 they still came with a centre stand.

Because the title of the story and video is "Oddball Middleweight Sportbike" meaning, any sportbike above 600cc and below 1000cc. Racing classes weren't a consideration in this test. As for the 848, Ducati couldn't provide us one in time for this test. And it did rather poorly the last time we included it.

The one I would of like to see here as well is the F3 Augusta. I already saw a comparo between the F3 and the Triumph but those guys didn't really do a good job. Their reasoning was that there was no need for an F3 since we already have a Triumph which is better. We might as well just all ride triumphs in that case. Great review, talking about the best of each bike, great information. The video I am talking about is one of the motortrend channels.

I've heard that the daytona is really uncomfortable. The best thing you can do is go sit on all the bikes and test ride them to see what works for you. As far as reliability, the Triumph has had more major issues and issues period than the others. Beyond that, the only Triumph Daytona 675 bikes I've seen reported with millage over 50K, which have only been a few, have suffered catastrophic engine failure, as in sucking valves down into the cylinder head and going boom! Perhaps the new engine in the 2013 model will fare better; time will tell. If I were buying, the new 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 636 would be my pick.
