The War Thunder ECONOMY is SO BAD you have to DROP NUKES to PROFIT

War Thunder Economy Changes are here. Today I decided to see just how good or bad it really is.
What better what to do it to drop a nuke, right? Well, how about 2 nukes and we find out how much Silver Lions we get for the accomplishment.
The Economy Changes really feel like they're very punishing for players who don't have Premium Accounts or Premium Vehicles. Normally where I'd be averaging 100,000 Silver Lions per match and 130,000-180,000 Silver Lions, it looks like it's almost been halved.

So I usually grinded SL in the Cobra King (premium Jumbo Sherman) in Ground Arcade because the games there are usually very fast (sub 10 minutes) so it is time effective. Just had a game with 11 kills, one cap, 2 assists, win. Heavy Metal Fury, Survivor, bunch of smaller awards like Multistrike, Shadowstrike, Without a miss etc. This kind of game usually gave me 150k when I first got the Cobra King, later after the first big SL nerf 100-120k without boosters but with Premium. Now I got 87.9k. Of which the game says that premium was 30k. So a non-premium time player would have gotten 57k even for a very good game (11 kills, survivor, cap, assists) with a premium tank. For me with premium time, Cobra King has 255% SL reward, regular tech-tree Jumbo has 135% SL reward, without premium it would only have 90%. So a completely free-to-play player (no premium time, regular tank) would have gotten maybe 35-40k. For an 11 kills, 1 cap, 2 assists, no deaths match. I'm just gonna buy the USS Frank Knox and maybe also the USS Moffett the next time they are on 50% sale and just half-bot the shit out of them in Naval EC. All you have to do is get a hit by manually aimed guns once during a match and you can leave the rest to the AI and watch a movie. Naval EC might be the only way to get decent SL anymore.

​@Max1296 I think they should make spawning tanks have invulnerability until they leave the zone or have been spawned for over 30 seconds or anything really... as a lower BR TD player nothing frustrates me more than having some low tier plane douchebag spawn in right off the start and just top-down me with 20mm cannons... I'm like completely helpless, and it feels like my only recourse is to spawn as an AA but it's a coin toss whether or not they will be able to see me and dive before I have a chance to traverse and fire... and half the time they see me spawn in after death as AA and hit the deck ASAP while tossing a 250/500kg ontop of me and zip away before I have a chance to even figure out where they are. Then again, I am still a noob... but I just wish they could do anything to protect newspawns especially when all it takes is 1-2 assholes camping spawn to absolutely suck all of the fun out of the match for me.

For me, the reward multiplier isn't the problem. It's the repair costs. Lowering the repair costs not only will help with the grind but it would also encourage players to spawn more vehicles and have longer matches. Because, if your team is losing in the beginning, players won't spawn and you will lose. However, if more players spawn, there's the chance to turn the game back around and pull a win. But because tanks can cost 7k SL per repair, you'd have to get like 4-5 kills just to cover the repair cost. And if the vehicle is stock.... good luck doing even 2 kills. Of course, for content creators or for people who put money in the game to constantly have premium time, this isn't an issue, however, for regular players, it is an issue.

Repair cost gets covered if you are a decent player and play a vehicle with good modifiers, cause you dont have to die every game , real problems are the modifiers that got nerfed especially hard on smaller nations vehicles which are usually played by better players

Every match results in someone losing money. Furthermore, It actively punishes worse or newer players since they’re the ones holding the bag.

I played war thunder 5 years ago and then stopped for some years. Recently I tried to play again and well... I am totally broke now in terms of SL. It sucks because I enjoyed the game but economics not only destroyed personal advance for new players it also destroyed the matches. War thunder never had the best community and team play in my experience (no offense) but Gaijin managed to wreck even the last eager to fight for victory. In war thunder you spawn once and either it goes well or you don't respawn... There is no fighting for victory no more.

I made 5 kills around the capture area, captured the point 2 times and gained 20k SL and 2k RP in SB tank with tiger II (P), no premium. The repair cost 9k SL, and I'm not even going to say that in some games I ended up with -6k SL because a blessed one thought he was playing RB (TK). Repair costs are notionally a game mechanic to simulate the risk and cost in combat to make players use risk/reward ratio strategies. Notionally, but it seems more of a way the game just nickel and dimes players into breaking down and buying products. If you want to just dink around, there are open custom battles that you can join where there aren't any repair costs. But also no rewards either....

The repair costs are a fine mechanic to punish stupid behaviour, but it’s the very unbalanced and clear randomness of the amounts on many vehicles (not just tanks) that makes it ridiculous, if they just standardised them into light, medium, heavy amounts so light is 4K medium 6K heavy 8K as an example then it would not be a problem, plus stop nerfing income repairs would not be a major problem.

I started playing the game about a month ago, so far only made it to tier 2 end of germany/SU/France as free to play, it was ok at first because first tanks are cheap and quick to research, but having reached 3.7 and it suddenly became grinding hell, and the very few boosters you get are a coin flip given the stupid 3 lives and single tank deployment thing. Like I just grinded thirty hours for a tank and payed the equivalent of a 100 games in silver lions let me play the tank instead of being cucked 20 secs into the game because some dude picked a cheese spawncamping point

Even with premium vehicles, and account, the rewards are unnoticeable at best. Got 2 days of fairly good matches on tier 6 and i didn't even notice a change in my research progress. Comparing screenshots between the days showed me the bar moved a whole 5 PIXELS 2 days of work, with a premium vehicle and subscription. fuckin brilliant

The economy seams to put a large part of the reward on activity time. Getting four kills in rank 6 air rb will maby net you 3000 rp if you are alive for 5 minutes, but if you play for 20 it can reach 12000 rp. Same for SL.

I've grinded my way mostly f2p, after years and years of playing, to germany and japan high tier. I've now basically hit a brick wall at 8.7 ground and 10.7 air. It's borderline impossible not to lose sl every match with how stupidly high the repair costs and module xp are. How are you supposed to learn how to play and spade the vehicles when the game actively punishes you every match? And even if you DO just grit your teeth and soldier through the stock grind and unlock your next vehicle, now you have to go like 3-4 brs lower where repair costs aren't completely busted to farm the sl to buy and crew it.

Most of my time in this game spent grinding SL. Ive spent the past couple weeks trying to get the SL for the Black Knight using the classic 7.3 cent linup. And my god It is bad. The changes to APDS, near constant uptiers, and now this. I dont have premium account as I dont want to give more money to them and really is not fun at all

Well, tbh, the british 7.3-7.7 has always been one of the lineup with the highest repair cost ever. Like one or two years ago the Caernarvon was 20k SL. Imo playing 4.7 british is probably more rewarding and less painfull (even though Cent are very good tanks)

I stopped playing about a week ago and I’m never coming back. I was primarily a Sim player and having to pay 20,000+ SL just to play eventually broke me down and I didn’t want to play anymore. After 5 months playing a few hours every single day, buying premium time and vehicles just to make any sort of progress. Spawning in Sim just to get pilot sniped by AA AI before doing anything and going bankrupt again and again and again. It just got to be too much and I said fuck it and fuck Gaijin. Uh chief the AM-13(FL-11) is 4.0 now...its the "minor nation" effect - mainly "good" players play them and their vehicles' stats get inflated, so the snail uptiers their vehicles. Then they're no fun any more and people quit playing them. The bonus is huge TT gaps too - France has no light tanks between 2.7 - 4.0 and no TD's between 3.3 - 5.3, and best of all, ONE AAA between 2.0 - 8.3.

Hi, OddBawz! Please do a Gaijin economic system test. (Day 1. May 17, 2023) Let's see what the WT economy system brings. It might cost time but it will worth it. Please show how you stand with the player base, who should be respected by Gaijin. Please start a new account with maximum paying $70 (a normal 3A game) to buy the premium account or premium vehicles (including Gaijin store and market premium vehicles). Or it's even better without any premium. This means no Lv-150 ace crew for tanks, no Lv-75 ace crew for planes, no unlimited silver lion in the beginning gameplay. The aim is to grind to a fully funtional non-premium line-up at 5.7~6.3 for ground RB in any one tech tree. Any one country tech tree is fine. Without addtional payment with GE, we will have maximum 5 crew groups. For example, the German 5.7 line-up includes Tiger H (heavy tank), Panther D (medium or light tank), Ostwind II (anti-air), Bf 109 G-14 (fighter), and Ju188 A-2 (CAS). Or USSR 6.3 line-up of IS-2(1944), 2S3M (2 major battle vehicles), M53/59, La-9, Tu-2S-44. Some premium vehicles bought in $70 budget can replace the role in some vehicles the line-up, like Ju188 A-2 CAS role can be replaced by Do 335 B-2. Full modifications are needed for all vehicles in the line up. Then finally we can see the total cost of time needed and fun gained for the grinding, and compare it to a normal 3A game. We can even start testing how long is needed for RP and SL for a single vehicle in tier IV, V or VI on average. Usually a tier VI vehicle needs 3~4 times RP as a tier IV vehicle.

I wonder why the E.B.R. (1954) changed so much but it didn't get the upgraded shell with 200mm of penetration. I've seen French mains get a nuke from only assists. Gaijin just needed to make getting nukes harder. A God Mode award is worth more SL, about twice as much, than the Doomsday award for getting a nuke anyways, and you can only get one per match of both of them. I still think air realistic is the best way to farm SL in War Thunder just because of the modifiers being that much higher tier for tier on aircraft when compared to tanks.

The economy was already bad, I had 5 mill SL and was rarely buying a new vehicle as I had unlocked most of what I wanted, and yet, for what ever reason, I was losing SL.
