I love Wang Chung. I was lucky enough to meet Jack Hues earlier this year who even signed my vinyl copy of mosaic. I think he was pleased someone that wasn't even born in the 80's (90's kid here) was in to his music.

15:03 I have that particular Santa Claus tape, purchased years ago with a whole bunch of other "Silver Bell Music" brand tapes. Finally took a listen to it after watching this video, and I say it's a good thing you passed on it. While the singing is not bad, it's fits 100% into kiddie record territory. Plus, my particular copy has very noticeable clipping as if the recording signal was too high when my copy was duplicated.

Showaddywaddy *were* the UK Sha Na Na. A 50s revival band who started with self-penned tunes then resorted to covering old 50s songs. They were pretty famous, indeed. Some of their hits entered the Top 10 and *Under The Moon Of Love* was number one at the end of 1976. They werent't trying to be good or bad, just fun. And boy, they did.
@Fluteboy4 жыл бұрын
There was a spate of these revival bands in the 70s and 80s. Other candidates were Racey, Matchbox, Stray Cats, Rocky Sharpe and The Replays, Roman Holliday, JoBoxers, Buddy Curtess and The Grasshoppers, and of course bloody Shakin' Stevens. Music was evolving, yet like tendrils they were pulling us back again!

re: the edit to the Roseanne Cash cover art: That's another point for your Saudi Arabia origin theory. They have very strict modesty laws, especially when it comes to the women's dress code, and I've heard stories of pictures in imported news and hobbyist magazines getting inked over by the local censors.
