Apparently Nick Schmaltz is a forward, not a defenceman… And this is why you double-check every single detail of your script folks!

Steve Dangle mistook Nick Robertson as a defenseman. He is a forward (2LW).

You also said that Maurice Richard matched Lalonde’s totals in 1994.

That was an awesome game. I remember watching it as a kid. I was allowed to stay up to watch the game because I was sick for a few days. BTW there was a joke about Dave Reese who no one knew what had happed to him for many years. The joke was that Reese felt so depressed after the game that he went down to the subway station next to Maple Leaf Gardens and jumped in front of the train, but it went through his legs.

13:30 Maurice Richard scored 5 goals in a playoff game in 1994?!?!? Dang, that's pretty good!! He was only 73 in 1994. Not bad for a senior citizen.

I believe that this remains a Guinness record shared with Jim Harrison of the WHA Oilers. His 10 pointer was 3 goals ad 7 assists. Still quite an achievement by both.

9:18 Why no love for Peter Sundstrom's NHL record 8 point playoff game for the New Jersey Devils in 1988? A record only tied by Mario a year later. The only 2 players to ever have 8 points in a playoff game.

I remember reading that Sittler thought of that night that someone might beat his 10 point night (never gonna happen) but no one would ever get two hat tricks in two consecutive periods. He was a beacon for Toronto during difficult times.

Nick Schmaltz is a Center, his brother Jordan Schmaltz, who currently plays for HIFK in the Finnish Liiga is a defenseman

13:40 I'll never forget that night.Sittler could never explain it.He just seemed to pick up a point everytime he touched the puck.I felt sorry for Reece He got no help from his team.Cherry should have called up another goalie because Cheevers sat on the bench with the flu.

I wouldn't consider a 2nd goal 7 mins into a game an insurance marker.

pictured one of the greatest leafs ever and probably the worst treated by haralld ballard and the flyers

This was a great, positive video, even if the defence was a *Mess* after Sittler's 6+4. :) As you brought up, there is no particular reason that it happened in this game and not in another. All stats you showed tell that Sittler was in top form and something like this could have happened in any other game. Technically, it is called Poisson distribution. It is a remarkable chapter in NHL history.

Too bad it happened against my team, guess they have got their revenge over the last few playoff series against Toronto 😂

Sittler had a great careers despite being shafted by every team he played for. Ballard hated that his players were getting more press than him. He was miserly vindictive tyrant that wanted to be the face of the franchise and destroyed a talented team in the process. In Philly, Clarke and Sittler had bad blood between them for years and Clarke took the opportunity to stick it to his old rival. The Red Wings were trying get their rebuild off the ground and was a bad fit for what he could offer. He is still loved by Leaf fans of entire generation and go down as one teams greatest of all time.
