@@ender2664 that's great to hear. I certainly don't have a professional backyard myself, although I live in a neighborhood where people try to keep theirs that way. Nice to know this won't be too difficult. I think I'll just try to get a piece that is precut to the size I need, make it easier.

I just finished my back yard. About 1700sqft. First time doing it and lots and lots of videos watched. This video helped me a lot. One of the best on youtube. For people wanting to do this...guys its not that hard. Just labour. I`ve done most of the work alone. I only needed help when i joined 2 pcs. My pcs (2) were 15m long by 4m wide, so yeah...very heavy. Used about 1000 nails, but this helped me not to put any sand at the end. When you cut to make a seam, make sure you cut one pc very close to the yarn, and the other pc leave a lip of 1/4`` so you keep the gap consistent between the yarn when they are close together. The gap between pcs, not more than 1/16. I also used seam tape to glue them together, then nails...every 2``. I have 2 seams, and you cant even see where they are. I`m very happy with my first time. Now i have to wait for next year and good weather and get the front of the house done. Btw...do your research and order your artificial turf from China (alibaba). I paid $3000 for 3400 sqft, and i sold half of it for $3000. My 1700sqft back yard cost me $700 including the base material, weed barrier, tools rentals and beer. Cheers!

As a professional artificial grass installer in the UK I am always interested to see how others install grass. We use a 1" sharp (concreting) sand layer on top of the sub base as this gives a much nicer feel when walking on it, more like real grass. We also always use a weed membrane on top of that to prevent weeds from growing up through the grass, the artificial grass has drainage holes, it is not a weed barrier in itself. We don't nail the grass down, what are you nailing into? dirt? that is not going to give a long term stable lawn. We fit a 2"x2" tanalised timber border to the area prior to putting the sub base and sand down. The grass is then nailed onto the timber and tucked down over it, using the carpet stretcher to tension the lawn which ensures no wrinkles. Finally we don't use infill, it used to be required to keep the pile upright but with the modern artificial grasses it is no longer required, we power brush it up and it stays up.

Compacting is crucial, The sand holds the blades vertically and weights the turf down

I don't think you put enough nails in 😂 If it was me I would screed a layer of sharp sand over compacted hardcore and then a membrane before laying A/T as it can never be perfectly level if you are putting it straight onto compacted hardcore but it would be if you used a screed layer of sand and you never have to worry about stones poking through also a bit ridiculous that you needed a laser level for such a small area I would measure of the bed joint of block work if I wanted to quickly check depth but even that would be unnecessary and as for all them nails what a load of bollicks a carpet is held from the perimeter and the same for A/T all them nails into compacted hardcore is nonsense but other than all of the workmanship I enjoyed the upload 👍🇮🇪
