Today I carried a Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweight in CPMSPY27, SRM 9201-GW, Ka-Bar U.S.M.C, and a RovyVon Aurora A2-G3. I was out in the woods all day so it was a heavy day.

I just got mine yesterday. Guess I’m getting old because I remember 440c used to be super high end. I’m still a fan of 440A . Just can’t believe this knife only cost $24. It’s a scandi with a very small micro bevel. This is a very high scandi so it has a very sharp point. Haven’t tested mine enough to know anything about it. But 440c was a very very good steel. It was the steel everything was compared to. Your test shows it does everything I need. Can’t beat the price. Especially since moras new full tang are insanely expensive.

Absolutely! The price point cant be beat! Nothing wrong with 440c. Mora have lost their minds with their pricing on the new stuff I agree Awesome comment thank you!!!

I wonder now I’ve had mine a little while. Anyway I wonder if your edge was burned during initial sharpening. It’s not uncommon and something many don’t realize. Most KZbin influencers and online self proclaimed knife people don’t understand the first edge doesn’t tell you anything about the knife. From what I’ve seen and know about steel both my grandfathers were tool and die makers. So I grew up in machine shops. Anyway I was told you need at least 4to 7 sharpenings to get to virgin steel. The one thing I don’t like is the thickness of the tip. With the bevel that large I guess there’s nothing you can do. I’m very happy with mines performance so far. I’m liking the 440c I spend my time chasing rivers for fish. So I tend to use my knives in wet environments. So the steel and sheath should be perfect. Even if I gotta reprofiling $25 is hard to beat especially for a solid set up.

So I don’t think that’s a major issue at the end of the day simply bc it’s a very budget friendly knife. This is how new/small company become the Big guys. There is no problems, just solutions.

@@LegionTacticoolCutlery That’s good of them. No problems just solutions. This kind of business is good business. Maybe during sharpening the tip got a little thinned or too hot.

Nice work GRuggs! I was concerned about my tip also and now I'll toughen it up with more of a relief edge before i put it to work. For the money this knife is near perfect. My only other complaint is I wish the handle had a bit more width but that's just my personal preference. Thanks for bringing honor to the Legion brother!

Aside from prepping firewood which needs dry dead wood. You should use green wood for carving projects such as tent pegs and such. It is much easier to shape than dead wood.

Your videos are perfect. I like them very much. Do you think the 440 steel is chippy? How well do you think it would make bow drill divets?

Well 440c used to be the end all be all at one point. When I get the exchange I am gonna retest it see if it does the same thing. Not sure if 440c is chippy or not.

How has yours stood up? I personally really like mine. The grind is different then every scandi. Really I’m wondering with all your knives. What do you grab when your not filming? What do you use the most, an what would you stay away from? I really do appreciate you hunting down an showing affordable knives. Seems everyone from the beginning started out showing budget then when dealers found out it was cheap marketing (basically free commercials). The knives went from affordable to ridiculous. All my years in the woods an on water. 99.9 % of people don’t carry $200+ knives. Then the people I’ve come across with expensive knives. They ask to use one of our knives because they don’t wanna mess up their knife. Makes me think they were bought for showing not using. Even KZbin the reviewers show these expensive pieces. They have no marks from use an tell everyone how great it is . Then the next day another expensive knife. Never see the same blade twice. I miss old KZbin joe x is as close as wee come. I just wish he did some real use before he destroys everything. I’ve yet to see super steels prove they are worth the money. Well that’s my morning rant. Love your hard work your one of the few left.

This is a good knife except the tip needs to be strengthened in my opinion. Still a good blade for the price! Yeah man the prices of knives from knife makers, both production and custom are totally ridiculous especially when I have proven time and time again how sub 100 dollar knives are effective and kick ass. Thanks for the awesome comment. The more and more I test budget blades the more and more I relize and know that super steels are not needed. Just a good heat treat on a decent steel and common sense use of any knife and you have a blade for ever. Cheap!

Right now my go to knives are my Eafengrow, Lengren, NedFoss, Rough Ryders. I use these all the time. Actually used my NedFoss at a dinner in a restaurant and it was perfect to cut up my half chicken.

@@LegionTacticoolCutlery I gotta say I am a fan eafengrow. I've had many folders over the years. I'm really liking their fixed blade designs. Plus I love 14c28n. I appreciate the reply not the knives I was expecting but that's a good thing. I'm up to date on your videos I just like watching the old stuff sometimes. Especially knives I have. My most used are coldsteel the mini pendleton hunter an the srk-c. Oh the knife I always have is utica utk-n2 it was the best $40 ever spent. It's like a izula with G10 and a kydex sheath. The most important thing is the gring is amazing. It's not a thick prybar it's a great knife. But it's not made for big hands. I wear medium gloves. I have short fingers and a wide hand. The mini pendleton hunter works good for me as well. I don't like 3 finger knives. But I like small fixed blade for most tasks. Especially fishing. Have a good one
