Don't mean this in a disrespectful way at all, but 2 things... Odies mentions to stir it up everytime to a honey consistency. Next, they specifically say not to buff it out eith blue shop paper towels. Always supposed to use a cotton terry cloth. Or lint free cloth. They say the blue paper towels do not remove enough of the excess oil.

You should watch the instructional video the creator and owner of odies oil made. You literally did everything he said to never do. Oh well still looks sweet

I'm a fan of Odie's oil. I use it mostly for small boxes. Odie's sez to sand to a fine grit 400 or finer. I use a grey synthetic wool pad to apply and buff off w/shop towels and the results are great. Plus it is food safe.

Have you used odies oil on a colored stain piece (purple or blue for example) and if so how was your experience?

I need my wood table to be darker than natural color. Is this ok with stain with the color I need and then apply Odie's on top?

They have their own stains. They also have a few types of oil that darken the wood.

I finished my table with odie’s and two days later had my family trash it on thanksgiving. I can’t find good info on cleaning it and don’t want to get it wet yet. Any suggestions?

Not sure if you found an answer to this yet, but a few things. You can re-apply oldies, work it into the surface with a scotch Brite (higher grit than the sanding finish of the wood). This will re-activate the old oil. Let it soak for @1 hour, then buff of all the excess with a Terry cloth towel. Keep flipping the towel and buffing until the towel comes away clean. Then you need to let the finish cure before using the table. I believe it is around a week before it will be ready for full use, but you can check on their website. Hope this helps if you haven’t already got it handled.

Any issue with applying a wipe on poly over Odies for moisture barrier, etc. ?
@SlabGuy5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t recommend it. Once odies is fully cured, it offers a lot of moisture resistance.
@Snakeplisskin4405 жыл бұрын
you'll stop using poly after using Odie's oil.

Which do you prefer, odies or Rubio ?
@SlabGuy4 жыл бұрын
At this point I’d leans towards Odies. Mainly because it’s not a two part mix, a bit cheaper by volume and a bit better consistency in my opinion.

you’ve done it all wrong

If your new to using this finish watch odie’s oil how to video, this guy puts way to much on and goes against what the manufacturer says
