Odin Makes: the Flag Smashers mask from Marvel's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

This could be the easiest villain to cosplay from the MCU! Inspired by the new show The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, here is the Flag Smashers mask made from EVA foam!
In this video I take you through the steps I did to make my own Flag Smashers mask- from cutting the raw foam to final painting.

For the texture you could use antislip fabric. It has de little raised dots. So, you could cover the mask with that fabric. Its a bit more of effort but easier than hand make the dots

Going from lightest colour to darkest always works best, in screen printing we call it trapping to go back over with a black outline. Great job looks phenomenal!

Great work now for Zemo. Some speculation on the build, use this same mold/pattern for a base and add some fabric over the shell. Tbh that’s how it seems to be in the show, the mold in the mask even folds so realistically it could be foam or thin plastic

I don't usually make suggestions like the one I'm about to make, but it'd be a lot easier to just buy a blank mask from Michael's, Joann, etc. and take it from there. The Flag Smashers masks aren't skin tight so you could get away with it. That said, you learn a lot more by making something rather than buying it, even in failure.

So why not just give the whole mask a quick coat of white or grey primer before starting to paint the red? Wouldn't that be much faster and prep the surface better?

They make different colors of plastidip. You could likely have painted the mask black plastidip, then masked the design in, and sprayed red plastidip over it to get the effect you are looking for.

Not that I have found. Contact Cement is pretty unique with what it does. Two alternatives I can think of are: super glue (still has fumes) Tyges.co.uk just released a new type of glue stick for a hot glue gun that is made for EVA foam. I have not tried it yet, but that is promising.
