That ending is brutal. Too bad they couldn't just erase his memory of everything that connected him to Thor, send him back to Earth to live out a life as simple Dr. Donald Blake.
@harikiran43393 жыл бұрын
Yeah but thor had lots of rough stuff happening one after another, making him more brutal( first it was the god butcher, followed by black winter, then knull, now this dude is just done with all of this). Oden was gonna end him, give him the mercy that Blake was asking. But thor wanted Blake to feel the wrath for his actions. Thor is slowly becoming like oden without him knowing.
@mujtabaellari25973 жыл бұрын
Also Blake killed a bunch of Thor powered people. He should be punished for that.
@STNeish2 жыл бұрын
That ending is actually from Norse myth. After Loki tricked Hod into killing Baldr, the gods bound Loki in a cave with a serpent dripping venom into his eyes, just like this. His wife, Nanna, stayed by his side and caught the venom in a bowl, but occasionally had to go and empty it. When she did, Loki would writhe in agony, and shake the earth itself, and this was the cause of earthquakes.

The ending to this was PERFECT considering Donald's punishment is the EXACT same punishment that was given to Loki by Odin all those years ago. And I for one see this as a chance for Loki to become someone Better now that he has not only forsaken his title as God of Lies but as passed it onto another "Odinson" and therefore it no longer holds any power over Loki, he can no longer be addressed by that title and in at least one way become a king in his own right.

While there's a lot I really liked about these issues, and while I'm becoming quite a fan of Cates's excellent writing, this ending was just mind-boggling cruel. Blake's longing for annihilation was a win-win for both parties, but Thor's pious "value" for the sanctity of life (with no regard as to the quality of that life or care for the person living it) and complete relinquishing of responsibility by handing Blake off to Loki, was the true evil here. Thor essentially allows Blake to endure a fate worse than even Odin had created for him. This intolerance for death + the lack of responsibility/investment by the ones holding the power is a lot like how the religious right seeks to criminalize abortion without intending on helping financially support the children/moms in question, or how our society stigmatizes suicide and euthanasia when, for some people, this is can be the most humane/gentlest way out.
