For people who wonder how did Brok figure it out. HE DIDN'T he was just saying out loud all the things that didn't make sense. And because he was poking holes in all of Odins deception he killed him. By no accounts is Brok dumb, he is a very smart guy, he just doesn't care to sound the smartest, the dude legit created a riddle that even Mimir (smartest man alive) couldn't solve. for a while. To make his death hit harder is that Brok was Kratos's ally, Kratos really grew to like the guy, trust and rely on him. Hell whenever Kratos needed help or someone to support him Brok always had his back
@ythandlename2 жыл бұрын
Someone mentioned it in the other video but the best reason why he is the one who figured it out is because everyone respected Tyr and didn't question his choices. But Brok is a no-nonsense guy who will be honest enough to speak his mind immediately and he's the least attached to Tyr, a total stranger they only knew recently but has a good reputation that Brok wouldn't give a shit about. Even Kratos, who is cunning as he is strong, was fooled but only because Tyr is a God of War like him who wants his pacifism to be the right answer so he wouldn't have questioned Tyr but without that attachment, someone would've questioned him eventually. Brok is a hero because he did what people should've done a while ago at the best possible moment, right before Odin would've won it all if he walked with the mask.

@@NCRDesertRanger you can see at the end of the game, His demeanor is completely different. The forging of the spear mission is literally just a Hint for players to look at the ""nature" of the thing". But lies are easy to accept, we do this daily as humans after all. Convinient lies are the easiest to accept after all. You lie about your height to your self, or maybe your scores in school and we just fill the rest to make us feel better. Kratos wants to be the one to plan and do the "thing", So he can control the danger to atreus. So accepting fake tyr was easy, because it gave us the control of choices more easily. Just fantastic writing. First visit to asgard i tought Odin was masquareding as skjolder so i was wary about him. someone at the studio really tought what the nature of good lies are, and was able to write it in. I could compare this shock reveal to the one in Attack on titan about Armored and Tall one. One thing I like about this scene from a writing standpoint is Odin's complete lack of patience. He didn't need to make up some BS story about having a way into Asgard or how he would lead them into war. All he needed to do was wait. Wait for everyone or most of everyone to leave and insist that the Horn and mask remain in the house since it's the one place Odin can't get to. Then once everyone is gone he can just take the Horn and the mask into the Broom closest with the excuse that he wants to study them, go into the broom closest and teleport back to Asgard. And with that he wins. His enemies can't get to him because he has the Horn and his now has the mask which will allow him to see into the tear. But Odin HAS to have the mask NOW! It can't wait and in doing so the way he does exposes another flaw about himself. He HAS to lie and be the center of attention. That's why he makes a grand speech and talks about a way into Asgard because he needs to prove how smart he is and have everyone praise him for being so great, even if it's him pretending to be someone else. THAT'S why he kills Brok here. It's not because Brok was about to expose him it's because Brok was insulting him the entire time, was calling him on his BS and pointing out how useless he was. Note his line, "Do you never Shut up!" he hated that Brok kept insulting him and pointing out all the flaws in his master plan and was pointing out that the emperor had no cloths. I have my issue with this game (there are a lot of obviously contrived plot points like how Odin knew where Kratos and Atreus were going when searching for Tyr) but the characters are the saving grace of the story and what keeps me coming back.

As a blacksmith he would have sensed the magic emanating from the mask (like the scene were he felt the blades of chaos power) and seeing Tyr leaving with it felt wrong. No one took the mask seriously in that scene besides Atreus, everyone else was instead fixated on Tyr and the fact he kept secrets away, so having him leave didn't really matter. Speaking as some who just watched the game from KZbin playthroughs, I’ve got point out that Brok seemed to suddenly act hostile towards “Tyr” for no clear reason, at least nothing that everyone else didn’t hold against the fake god of war. The fact that Odin somehow lost his cool was just as strange, he could’ve just hand it to Atreus and be sure that the boy would’ve followed him towards this “secret passage”. 🤔

I also felt this way when I saw this scene for the first time. But after thinking it over and hearing what others had to say about it, this is how I came to interpret the events: There are two possibilities that explains why Brok has come to dislike Tyr. 1) His open dislike of his cooking and 2) His unwillingness to fight alongside those he calls allies, but the second one in particular is probably the reason why Brok is so mad, remember when Hel-walkers invaded their sanctuary due to Garm wreaking havoc across the 9 realms upon his release, Tyr did NOTHING but take shelter while his "friends" did all the dirty work. This explains why Brok is so skeptical, Tyr refused to take effective action or reveal any useful information until it proved convenient to him, and even when he devises a risky plan to invade Asgard right under Odin's nose he doesn’t fill them in with all the details, essentially demanding trust from the group when he hasn't done squat to earn it. This in turn causes him to rightfully question his motives and intentions which tragically leads to an argument that ends with his death. As for Odin's temper that's easier to explain, simply put he's always had a short fuse. Whenever things don't go his way he lets his anger do the decision making for him, like for example when Thor refused to kill Kratos as ordered he immediately kills him... and comes to regret his choice mere seconds later when he finds himself cornered by Atreus, Kratos, and Freya with no other allies to call on. Mimir has a lot of stories in the first game about how Odin loses his cool the second he loses control over a situation which inevitably causes him to make mistakes that he never fully recovers from.

@@taurusstudios5497 that’s a reasonably put and logical argument. 🤔 thanks for explaining it to me. 😁👍

@@taurusstudios5497 Yeah well that isn't the reasoning either. Partially though. Brok IS pissed about Tyr doing nothing when the Hel-Walkers attacked and it led to Sindri being mauled by a transformed Boy into Bear which didn't sit right. However, Brok put something together which not even Mimir noticed because of how craft Odin is. Tyr hasn't cared about ANYTHING they try to plan and bring up but suddenly the mask which is complete is now on the table and Tyr says "it all leads to this." Tyr hasn't liked anything so far so why would he like the same thing Odin likes? How does he have a path to Asgard when they are literally in his secret paths right now? Brok has had enough of Tyr and decides to finally point out things which dont sit right with him and all he wanted was answers, instead Odin stabbs him. As for Odin getting mad.... they just killed Heimdal... he was extremely agitated over this when the boy when back to Odin and why he wasn't angry when Sif told him who did it, he already knew. He finally had the mask and all he had to do was get back to the closet he "slept in" as tyr and everything would be his for the taking and he didn't have answers for Brok.
@taurusstudios54972 жыл бұрын
@@Ravenbones I agree with you for the most part as you basically just repeated my points. But I should point out that Odin wasn't particularly upset about Heimdall's demise. The only thing he wanted was the mask and near as he could see he got what he came for. He didn't stab Brok to avenge Heimdall, as far as he was concerned he was a necessary sacrifice for realizing his goals, he stabbed Brok because he was screwing up his plans as I've stated and as we've seen before anytime someone proves to be a threat to his schemes he eliminates them either impulsively or with carefully laid stratagems.

Think it might have something to do with how he didn’t really have a soul to revive, because he was missing a part of his soul

Nobody. I noticed something, after your trip in muspelheim with thor and odin congratulates you, after climbing up his cave, you would notice odin calling huginn and suddenly leaves with his ravens as you get out. After this part, you would control kratos again and tyr will come out of the broom closet. I believe when odin left his study he went straight to sndri’s house to resume his disguise.
