Which actually makes a lot of sense because then it can swing out (pivoting on the arming hand) and smack the enemy, and then swing back to lock onto the forearm and protect.

Honestly Odin did a fantastic job for a for-fun cosplayer but it wouldn't stand up to a career cosplayer. Odin's is good, don't get me wrong, but there's a lot of people out there putting several times more money and time into the same costume and it shows

Put a magnet in the mount and on the arm, that way it can be held on the arm when needed

That thing about hindsight and all... some embedded magnets in the arm & mounting point on the shield "could" go a long way for weight distribution and stability, while leaving the whole thing modular.

Thank you! it took me a while to decide on how I was going to use that roll of W+F! I knew it had to be on something big and cool. Something that was interesting to me: when I was using the wood burner to make the panel lines, the lines that were parallel to the long side of the sheet were easy and fast to burn. But the lines that were parallel to the short side of the sheet needed 2-3 passes! Looking at he tooling pattern left on the surface of the sheet, I bet when manufactured it was hot rolled out to 6 mm, so the burn lines that went with the direction of the rolling were easy.

@@OdinMakes Well it was the perfect use for it! It worked out beautifully! Interesting on the Wood Burning thing, That is the direction they are rolled out so it makes sense that it might developed a kind of "grain" in that direction. :) I'll have to play around with that, my wood-burner died on me a while back and I just got a new one. I haven't done a whole lot of wood burning on it, I've primarily done the scoring and heating technique. :)

It's not a bad idea, but the magnets would have to be large enough to attach or you will have to use a lot of magnets.

The shield on the actual gundam has a handle that slides to allow for variable grip positions. So there's wiggle room to change where the handle mount is.

I always wondered why all shields on all Gun(pla)dams had stupidly low handles. I guess inbuilt magnets or some kind of locking tab in a MS's arm kept the shield in place. But anyways, the only thing left to make is the RX-78-2's Beam Rifle. Can't wait to see it built.

Ok, now you got the Beam Rifle and the Bazooka. You might want to consider going by the Master Grade for those with the nature of those details. Fortunately with the RX-78-2 rifle you won't need any LED lighting for its sight.

Another Gundam you should try and make is Gundam 01 or Wing Zero before the Endless Waltz movie or you should make the Gundams from Endless Waltz because I may have found a way to make the energy beams like they do for the Gundams and the rotation mechanism of Heavy arms.
