Odin Makes: Red Ranger Power Sword from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Today I finally make a prop from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, and it's made from EVA foam!
It's the classic Red Ranger Power Sword, complete with coin, as supplied by a Joe Hoard!

You don't know the can of worms you've opened with this awesome build. They're gonna call for the rest of the power weapons. They're gonna want all the power weapons to combine into the power blaster. They're gonna want the dragon dagger. They're gonna want saba. They're gonna want the sword of darkness. Some are gonna want the bow of darkness from the boom studios comic books. And I'm sure more than a few will want Rita and Zed's magic staves. In other words, I think you'll get to use that amazing intro quite a bit.

Might Morphin were the first rangers i have ever seen and few years ago i watched every episode. Too bad that Zordon's era ended in season 6 but it was nice seeing alpha and others showing up in other seasons. This brings a lot of memories.

What’s fun is the original props were made using ye olde foamsmithing techniques as well, at least the screen used ones. In behind the scenes shots and footage you see the screen used weapons are made with foam rubber covered in paint so not to hurt anyone. It’s fun to spot the differences between variants of screen used and hero props as they often varied wildly, especially in early series.

In case anyone is curious, the sword in the original show is called Ryuugekiken, Dragon Attack Sword, and it is wielded by Geki, prince and last member of the ancient Yamato tribe, and the TyrannoRanger from Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, Dinosaur Squadron Beastranger. And it's fucking rad.

I love that intro, the unique uses of the different tools you use on a day-to-day basis as Power Ranger weapons, the exacto-blade as the lightning bolt, the music. Everything just worked and I loved it, even though I never watched Power Rangers, but you looked like you had a lot if fun doing it and loved the idea of doing it. Also nice build
