I am hooked watching you boys build that camp. I’m in the middle of building my own 16x22’. Mine is not as remote as yours, but is boat access only and I built conventional, not post and beam. I used my Woodland mill too for the foundation beams and posts and later for board n batten pine siding. Keep up the good work, can’t wait for the next episode!

Love the videos! Keep rubber shoes on when you have lighting! You guys made a lot of progress for just a weekend, thank you for sharing this with us. I really hope that one day the law will change here in quebec and to be able to buy some lands to build myself a place to evade from the society from time to time. Right now the only way to have you own place here is to buy from other people and they are exagerating the price (15 000$ and more), and it's too rent this land from the governement, and the rules are plain stupid, you can only build 16x20, cannot cut tree at more than 10 feets from the cabin, need to be at 1000 feet and more from a lake, cannot build an access road and so on. And also, where did you put the dogs during the storm ? 😂

Doing a loft in that cabin? It’s looking very good and some nice clean work there gentlemen.
@Hboysoutdoors3 ай бұрын
Ya the loft is only going to be for sleeping above the screened in 10x20 porch the rest of the 20x20 will be all vaulted and timbers and raffters showing. Thanks for watching!

Great project. But I wonder why you in America and Canada usually not insulating the floor. Most be so cold floor and cold room in winter times.
@Hboysoutdoors2 ай бұрын
Ya we will be insulating after all the wet green timbers have dried and we have the time. We are just trying to have the walls and roof on before the winter and all the snow and we will be continuing the build in the spring
@chandlerhaag38953 ай бұрын
You have the cupping backwards. A board will warp the opposite of the grain. This is because the boards shrink more towards the pith, pulling it into a cup. So you’d want to actually have the boards crown up.

@JulienCope3 ай бұрын
Frown upside down refers to the shape of the cupping not the end grain. End grain lines will tend to straighten out when drying.

I wonder if wrapping the concrete with bitchathain or at least a heavy tar could help keep them resistant to freeze thaw.effects, or the concrete cracking. You could use hydraulic cement to cap the tops of the blocks and the pads with a tapered finish.
