I completely button up the interior construction finishes of tiny off grid cabin in the woods.
I start off with making some really cool walnut wall sconces for free!
I'll tackle the ceiling, front door, kitchen cabinets and sink as well as the plumbing - keeping in mind the future for running water in a rain catchment system.
I will teach you how to make a diy kitchen cabinet system with cupboard doors, repurposed hinges, and wood milled from a portable sawmill.
Next, I'll show you how to complete a custom cedar board ceiling using the sawmill and place the slates over to produce a finished look.
The custom build door is covered over so there are no more gaps. Now we are ready to outfit the cabin with running water from a rainwater collection system. Finally, I'll finish the wooden loft stairs and make them secure and safe to be able to access the upper level of the cabin.

I never knew how to play guitar but I had a great desire for music and I had a will power to overcome the pain from the strings and the tennis elbow from the strumming motion but I weighted the love of my personal express over the pains and the love of music won! That’s how building is it’s the feeling of accomplishment that out weights the sore thumbs!

@@cmosphoto1: Happy Thanksgiving Kevin. You do beautiful work, the Lord has given you a lot of talent, you are a great woodworker and a good teacher as well. I just found your channel and I am watching from the start. Since it is Thanksgiving today, I am thankful for all your hard work producing those videos so that we learn while being entertained. I also have a little word of encouragement that is really fitting since today is a good day to recognize why we should give thanks. For everyone reading this if you have not yet given your life to Christ Jesus, today is the day, don’t wait! Tomorrow is not promised to us... Where you will spend eternity is up to you, there are only 2 destinations with the Lord or without Him in everlasting misery. Jesus loves you and He is trying to get your attention today and just know that it has absolutely nothing to do with religions or denominations, it has everything to do with having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We have all sinned and we are all in need of a saviour, Jesus died on the cross and He was raised 3 days later by God our Father for the redemption of our sins... if you don’t have Jesus in your life “Today is the day to turn to Him, repenting means that we make a complete change of direction (180 °) towards God. What is wonderful is the simplicity and ease of this action ... " The gospel of Salvation is as easy as ABC A- Acknowledge that we are sinner and in need of a saviour because all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23). There is no one righteous, not even one (Rom 3:10). The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom 6:23). B- Believe with all our hearts that Jesus is Lord and died for our sins, and that God Has raised Him from the dead and given us this free gift so that we could be saved and have eternal life with Him (Rom 10:9-10). C- Confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord. It is with the heart that one believes and is justified and it is with the mouth that one Confess and is saved (Rom 10:9-10). All who call on the name of the Lord WILL BE SAVED! (Rom 10:13). Let’s all be the light and the salt of the earth by spreading the gospel of salvation... Be a labourer for the lost! In Matthew 9:37-38 Jesus said “37. The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38.Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” I love you and your family in Christ Jesus our Lord and I pray for you everyday. Six years ago, in my career, I said I was going to "start doing things and see what sticks". I've now gotten four promotions and more than doubled my income. Doing anything with conviction is often the best way to make things happen. It's never going to be the best first move, perfectly planned. And it doesn't need to be. Just do something, and the rest will come with time and experience.

Good advice, Kevin. "Just do it." When I got married and we needed a home, I bought a small shell home, no plumbing, no wiring, no insulation, no cabinets. So i read a book and started. Now that basic little shell has grown to 5 bedrooms, 3 baths, a living room, den, has grown in the middle by 1 upstairs story and looks like it was made all in one piece. Plus, it's got some special personality touches from me and my wife that you wont find in any other home. So, just do it. And, if you want quality in your construction, do it yourself. You will do a better job and take more pains than anybody else ever would.

Genius and beautiful. We live in Utah and in Park City there are Quaking Aspen everywhere. My brother used three branches from an aspen tree and put them together at the top like a Indian teepee. He did the wiring and got a cheap lamp shade and cut holes in the lampshade of bear, moose, and deer. When the lamp is on at night and you can see moose and bear and deer on the walls it is beautiful absolutely gorgeous and then legs for the quake and Aspen are just beautiful in the lamp is about five and a half feet high. Then I asked him if he would make me a nightstand light just like the bigger one and he did. I will cherish it always. He's made step stools and everything since for the nieces and nephews

“If you’re gonna fail, fail quickly.” This is really the best advice, yet probably often misinterpreted concept- failure is a part of learning- a part of life, yet so many people are so afraid of failure that they don’t act. When you accept that you will likely fail, it somehow gives you the confidence to do the thing.

@@cmosphoto1 your right, I think I still ended up paying around 2k for mine and installing it myself. Even the sock cabinets are around 100 - 300 dollars each cabinet. Depends on the size of the cabinet and type. I took on this project and took a night bite all at once. I'm almost finished with it now though. Mainly just the outside now and I'm done. Surrounded by pecan trees, 1 fig tree and 1 huge red oak. I cut a large piece of the red oak off thinking ot was dead. It almost knocked me off the ladder with the chainsaw in my hand. It wasn't dead at all, just looked dead. I'm going to have it milled down and make something out of it to go in the back yard.

I would have cleaned the stove before brining it in and setting into place. But beautiful work on the cabinets and counter top.

Yep, inherited a home. Wonderful gift. Even if 55 years old. But, needed serious remodels & repairs & updates. Amazingly, most of these projects can be googled for how to and warnings and suggestions. Just start. Somewhere. Do as much as you can yourself. So, there's money for projects you can't and or the cost of supplies. The gut and prep work alone can be daunting until you get the hang of it. The more you do the more you learn. *And, what not to do.
