I don't blame you for getting annoyed with people's ridiculous expectations. Your channel is realistic and relatable to me - no one I know can just buy £1000's of building materials, £1000's of tools, or spare the time to work non-stop on one project. Just keep chipping away at things and you'll be fine.

If one ask for money for windows to build a new home then this must be done. It is not correct to make a promise and not to fullfill it. As a facility manager I know that windows can buy bought in 5 hours in a market. Insolation material ? He can produce himself he has logs for the floor. It needs only slates and 20 cm wood dust for a insolation high end. Of this simply putting 5 cm slats. The truth is this men has no real drive. He is like w little girl and his wife is like a men SHE is boss. To finish the "log house" it needs 2-3 men 3 week 5 days 8 hours. Then it wood be a nice basic home that can be made better stepp by stepp.

@@frankpohl4377I agree 100 percent with you about asking for money for windows then doing nothing with. I started watching 2 years ago and was excited but then nothing happens no projects get done he’s like my uncle Bob has a million ideas and begins them all but never finishes one. I do believe he has zero drive. They have 1 child and no outside jobs, a couple animals what does he do with his time , that’s right goes to sustainable workshops that he doesn’t do any projects with . I only pop in to see if they ever started the house project. I feel dumb for giving them my hard earned worked hard for money

Those people who make the negative comments probably don't spend a quarter of the time you spend on your son with their children. You are making a life and beautiful childhood memories for your son.

I was going to say the same thing! Ivor is one month younger than my grandson here in Wisconsin USA and they play and act EXACTLY the same way, including the energetic wiggles and antics of typical little boys. Your cooking of sauces reminds me so much of my grandmother's cooking of rhubarb sauce (like you made your gooseberries) that it brought back many memories. (I am 67 now, and my grandma is long gone.) I think of the windows every time I get notice of a new video, just because I am anxious for you to get them and love them, although I know they won't be installed for a long time. I just want to believe you are not getting ripped off from this company, since that seems to be happening more and more post-covid. But i remain faithful since they are showing you some progress. Keep doing what you are doing, you have a LOVELY life, and living it exactly as you want.

I wouldn't worry about what people say you should do. I've watched from the beginning and you seem to have a pretty good grip as to what is the right thing to do. I particularly appreciate the pace and the flow, of your daily life and projects! Your son, can acrually learn/build/develop his problem solving skills! The reality, that all takes time and is a process, is made so visible here! To pause, to breathe to listen and to hear; to respond.....is such a gift that you offer each other!! I am grateful to you, for sharing your daily life, family and interests. The choices of photography, are exquisite, poetic and deeply heart centered. The 3 of you, are a beautiful family and wonderful Role Models!!! I also notice, you rposture, has improved when ou move about! You had spoken of your tendency to hunch over.

My mom was raised on a farm in North Dakota. Her heritage is Norwegian. My grandmother often made fruit desserts like you made. Cream was poured on top. They just called it fruit sauce. You guys are looking so well and healthy! Your outdoor life certainly agrees with all three of you. It is astounding what people think we/you should be doing it and how. When you are trying to live with simple solutions and minimal debt, building a life entirely with your own hands It is slow. It takes time to save to buy materials and tools, it takes time to work out how to build something to utilize those materials in the best way possible. People have gotten so used to buying cheap things that are mass-produced, or working many hours outside the home to pay someone else to do the work they have lost the connection to the old way of life. Our ancestors would be shocked at the pace of life today and I don't believe they would recognise a lot of the things we fill our days with. We have been wanting to put an extension on our yurt and summer kitchen as our children are growing bigger, and we have still not put a single stump in the ground. We have certainly been working, it's just things take time, animals take time to rotate and care for in a holistic manner and we want to enjoy our lovely family too. And that is totally OK. what matters is living the life we want to live each and every day and slowly chipping away at projects in a sustainable way. Sustainable in the way we make choices that are taking care of the planet, but also in managing our own energy and mental health along the way. There is no point working so hard you are miserable and your family resents the very life you are trying to create. There is beauty in the small things of our days and they are worthy of celebration and noticing. There are alot of people who have never lived off-grid on a limited income who have no idea what they are talking about who comment on things. They think they know because they have read a few books or watched some KZbin, but they don't. There is a big difference between book learning and life learning. We get similar comments from time to time and understand your frustration entirely. Keep up the great work guys! Much love from Australia. xx Ps also I was wondering what brand the lovely wooden train set is?

newbies to your channel won't know how much you've accomplished, along with off-grid homesteading (hugely time consuming), year-round animal husbandry (moving sheep to paddocks in town) and harvesting, tanning sheepskins, food preparation (on a wood stove, hauling water), and storage (smoking, drying, cheese making). Construction: In ground food cellar (massive undertaking), sauna, firewood storage, finishing the big-house roof and room extension. Nevermind raising a beautiful little boy!

Dear Tova and Mathias your videos are like a breath of fresh air in today's world. I think this episode touched me deeply seeing how content and happy you are with your life. To me you are the closest example to a rich and happy person. You are healthy, you have each other and your family around, your relationship is filled with love and respect, you have freedom and independence to live on your own terms. How amazing is to grow your own food and provide for yourselves. The right community also plays a huge part. Most people these days will never get that contentment and happiness because person who is healthy, happy, confident and can critically think is not useful for government and big corps. It is crazy to think that most of the people deprive themselves in nurturing relationships, meaningful connections, family, nature and healthy food in a pursuit of so called ''happiness'' in a distorted its form. Now ''happiness'' is shallow and empty self indulging life which makes people even more and more unhappy and stressed.

Guys, I truly enjoy watching your videos. I’m new to your channel and I’m so happy that I found it. In this day and age people focus so much on things, material stuff their goals and money, they forget that the journey of lives and plans of it are better that the goal itself. I’m on similar journey myself with my family with building projects and I am so grateful to be able to live the life in the nature where things are not fully built yet but I get to be able to be happy for every small or big changes that are happening towards the goals. Do not take some of the comments of other people to your heart. Only you fully know your life’s happiness and the things you cherish the most. God bless you and your family ❤

People on the internet can be so rude and irrating! I always told my children not to point fingers because there's 3 pointing back at you. If you have that much time to critize another we need to look at our own life. You 3 are living a beautiful life and one that os not the easiest but definitely rewarding. There's a big difference between sharing ideas, information and knowledge and being lectured by an ego. I enjoy just listening and watching what you choose to share with others.

We call the concentrated form of juice as squash. So it can be called as Rhubarb squash in English. I love watching your son adoring his parents and noticing you both do ❤

Have not commented in a long time. Part of it is cellular memory of Scandinavia. That is why I tell myself I come back. We have much less to care for, but old and constantly enjoying garden and trying to use it as well. Yes it’s enjoyable work. And Ivar delights in his 41:21 puddle, I remember doing that! Tova looks beautiful. Happy summer!

You have an amazing family, a stunning homestead, a beautiful life which you live genuinely with intention. Most people watching your videos only dream of such a life! You're living the dream and allowing us in as guests, not to tell you how to live. 🤗 An old saying: "People can't get your goat if you don't let them know where it's tied up." Be like a duck with water on its back and just let negative opinions roll off.

When I watch your videos it brings me so much joy and happiness to see you all living such a simple and old fashioned lifestyle! Finding time to play with your beautiful son and how you make him a central and important role in your work around the farm animals and the nature that surrounds you. Please don’t let the cruel words that outsiders say make any difference to how you live your life ! I’m sure they are only jealous of the the freedom you enjoy living this amazing life of abundance that you enjoy right from the land you work ❤

Just FYI, in England, a cordial is a concentrate which needs water added to make it palatable. A juice is ready to drink as it is. 😁

I get frustrated with people criticizing you too. I can speak to the attitude here in the United States , and that is to use CREDIT to build their house, or buy a fancy car. The overall attitude is instant gratification. It’s so wrong, in my opinion. You are exactly right.. it is the journey and process of achieving one’s goals that creates true satisfaction. I salute you. Much love from beautiful Southern Oregon!🥰

The world is full of people who love nothing more than passing judgment on other people without knowing anything about them. They love to tell everyone what to do. I can tell that you know to tune those out and continue with your life's calling and path. I admire you for having the courage to take the path less chosen and live your dreams.

I completely understand your journey, of presence and mindfulness in the quality of each moment. Ignore the people who just focus on "doing" and ego things. It's their journey. I very much resonate with your view on things, your rhythm. Again an amazing video, filled with beauty, practical things, and seeing Ivar getting taller and taller. Your videos fill my heart with joy, beauty and calmness on a monthly basis. Don't change anything, be yourselves and follow your heart and bliss. Gratitude for all you do and share with us so generously! Much love your way to the three of you as well as the furry and feathered ones! 💙🙏

in Poland it is a common dessert and is called Kisiel (fruits + water + suger potato starch) or Budyń (milk + sugar + corn starch + flavor). We have in Poland also a Christmas dish that is called Fruit Soup that are dried fruits + potato starch + sugar + handmade pasta. I watch all your vlogs and enjoy your daily adventures. Greetings from Hamburg Germany

I think we would call it a rhubarb cordial when it is homemade. In shops similar products made with orange, berries etc are called squash. A juice in the uk is normally ready to drink not diluted. The cream would be whipped into the gooseberries. A rare luxury for me! Beautiful video. Thank you

Brio! I miss that. The food looked really good! Unfortunately my rhubarb just disappeared. That roast beef 😊 Who cares about the windows? Your already painting the house falu red 😊 good luck with isolating the floor! Love that you’re taking the time to show Ivar all you do and take an interest in everything he does. You rock! Don’t let anyone rush you. Enjoy what’s there now, the rams, the cat, Malva, calendula, puddles :)
