We were away in our camper over the weekend and dragging a water barrel uphill always makes you remember not to take water for granted. Great solution you have there 👏👍

@@beyondtheworkbench ha! Yes. Second time we required water, we filled up on our way back from a trip out looking at our land. That steep hill jogged my memory 🤣👍

Great video a wee tip put a couple of pair of woman’s tights round the top of the barrel to filter out debris and save insects I do that on my allotment in glasgow

That's a great idea! I have since put a mosquito net over the top as I realised there were bits in it but you would have already spotted that would happen. Thanks for the tip

You were coughing a few times in your day 10 video so I worrying if you were coming down with something. When it comes to living off grid and not connected to water or electricity things like clean water is treated as liquid gold. I am amazed you did not have more buckets out there collecting rain water!

It quickly got tiring so we got the larger containers up and running as soon as we could. The cough could have been some dust from cleaning up I cant quite remember

Baby steps as you say. At least you can flush now….. save water…..don’t forget the sixties motto.. if it’s yellow let it mellow, if it’s brown flush it down… put a brick in the cistern to use less water… have a dry evening..😅😅

Excellent idea with the brick!

Have you come across this guy? Kris Harbour, he is a mine of useful info on water harvesting, water turbines, wind turbines and all things off grid.
