Lovely home and I hope it's all going well for your family. I realise it's been almost 2 years since you did this video so you may have changed the windows or done something different by now. But one suggestion I've seen in relation to keeping bugs out of your house is to make some screens with magnets around the trim that will attach to the window frame on the inside. This way you can remove a corner, open the window and replace the screen. Also easier to take them off to clean them. Just an idea to get around changing windows or keeping out the pesky bugs :)

Hi Adam, we spent 5 years on the road with a caravan and found that we needed a cover over the tyres to stop the sun deterioting them. Made up a plywood panel to cover each side. Hope this helps. Please don’t go for a walk at night near the dam, snakes like a moonlight drink.
@tinyrealestate26837 жыл бұрын
Hi John, wow that sounds like lots of fun! Thanks for the tip. That's something I hadn't really thought about to be honest. Ok got it. I haven't seen any snakes around as yet and hopefully it stays that way. Cheers

I love your little house! Just for a point of interest, Belling also do LPG oven/hob, I've been pleased with mine and the oven door opens from the side. We live in tassy, and also have a compost toilet, but it doesn't do as well as we thought, so we're saving up to buy a combustion compost toilet which uses the gas to burn the waste, we're going for the Cinderella one which is the gas one. Thank you for sharing. Cheers!

Looks awesome mate! Ripper spot. Just one thing, are they little mould spots growing inside the house? If so that can make you sick. If they are, you can get a dehumidifier which will help but you probably need better exhaust fan in the house to help air it out. Love the house though
@tinyrealestate26837 жыл бұрын
Thanks Karl. Yes it is a great spot. We do love it! No they are not mould spots just the natural black nots in the plywood that have come through the paint. Plywood has a habit of doing that if you don't use a good quality oil based sealer before painting. I was a little annoyed when they started to come through. A repaint is on the to-do list! Thanks for the comment 👍

Awesome videos, lots of great informative advice. I am currently awaiting my trailer to be finished, and then will be getting heavily into the build of my 9m tiny. I am planning on also being totally off grid.. and the more research I try to do on Australian companies the more confusing it gets! Can you give any advice on off grid packages ? and the company you went through for your set up?
@tinyrealestate26837 жыл бұрын
Hi Jade, thanks for the kind words. That is very exciting. Congratulations on getting started! There are several options but we went with Aussie Batteries. It was there "off grid starter kit pro". It has been a good system and the customer service was ok. A few words of advice. I would highly recommend going with a much larger system than what you think you may need as ours is borderline too small for our needs. I hope that helps. Any more questions feel free to get in touch.

You can use a custom made flyscreen on the windows. Flyscreen would be mounted on the window and when you have open the window, you just close the flyscreen.

Tiny Real Estate Hey man first of all I love your house! Especially the timber on the exterior looks marvellous! I would like you to see a KZbin channel called ‘My Self Reliance’, where a solitary man builds his own log cabin in the off grids of northern Canada. He has a lot of excellent content of his ongoing work on his cabin! He also includes his daily routine, including burning timber and cooking camp-style meals!

Been waiting to see this, it's so beautiful. You did such a lovely job! Kitchen and bathroom/ldy are pretty much perfect. Any ideas on what you want to do when bub grows in to needing their own space? Also, that land is a dream location for a tiny, I may be just a wee bit jealous haha.

Thanks so much Elle! Yes we haven't quite worked that one out yet. Maybe another tiny next to this one. I think with more kids on the cards we may eventually need a small house :-( Yes the location is incredible. There are so many beautiful spots like this around Australia waiting for us tiny house folk to make the most of them! When are you starting your tiny house?

I wish I could say I was starting it tomorrow, but I don't know now. Finances took a turn so it's temporarily been put on the backburner. I'm hoping another 12m maybe? or as soon as I win the lottery hehe. Have you seen the kids area Macy Miller has in her tiny? brilliantly done I think.

Good layout and some really good tips. Did you run everything on 240VAC? Or do you have some stuff running straight off the batteries? Love the spot you are in.
@tinyrealestate26837 жыл бұрын
Thanks Leo. Yes the entire house is 240 volt AC. We really wanted to be able to use regular appliances that make our lives so much easier so we made the investment in a good quality off grid solar system in order to run them all. I'll be sharing a lot more detail on this in the future so keep an eye out for it! 👍

Such an incredible build Adam. After seeing this a month ago I made the decision to look into building my own Tiny House! Will be buying my own Freedom plans soon. Just curious what your water drainage situation is? And also what Brand/ Model those awesome Skylights are? Be very much appreciated! Thanks man :)
@tinyrealestate26836 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much LV999 Sozk! That is awesome to hear. To inspire another person to follow their dream makes my day. For water drainage we simply use two small soak wells about 600mm deep and round and only use grey water safe products. Our skylight is by Acol and we purchased it at bunnings. It is pretty cool. There's something pretty special about laying under the stars in your own bed at night and looking up. All the best! :-)

Great video. Just one thing to be weary of; you CAN'T use normal LPG in a stove. You can only use propane. I was an LPG buisness manager for an oil company for over a decade and once or twice a year you would get a death from someone who had filled up there caravan propane tank (basically just a Bar B Q bottle) with LPG and there would be a slight leak and they would drop down dead. This is because LPG is a mixture of propane and butane and when it's burned off it produces carbon monoxide. This is odourless and deadly. Propane used for cooking doesn't produce this, it's only the butane. So be very careful NOT to fill up anything you cook with with LPG. You won't have a warning you will just drop down dead. As i said we would get one or two cases every year.... Cheers everyone and be careful.

If you have windows that open out in the bedroom - do you still have fly wires on them?
@tinyrealestate26836 жыл бұрын
Hi Roberta, yes we still have fly screens on them. We use very small strips of velcro to attach them. This allows us to easily open them and open the window. They even hinge nicely on the velcro so you don't have to completely remove them.

Finally get to see all your hard work paid off. Well done man it looks so amazing! I really love the burnt timber and the use of it inside aswell. Ive aready got a quote for a trailer from you ( very reasonable in AUS ) and i think we will want to work with you to help plan our own tiny house. Do you have a finished build cost for your home? Including furnishings? Also how much are you playing for land rent? I really love all the videos man, keep up the awesome work!!
@tinyrealestate26837 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Ethan. It's great to finally share it and I'm glad you liked it. We would love to help you with your tiny house plans and a trailer. The completed cost of materials excluding labour was about $50,000 AUD. That is without paying anyone like a builder or other tradies as I did most of the work with some help from family and friends. 😊

Your design principles are very helpful. All good advice... the windable windows with flyscreens, gas rather than electric for off-grid cooking, a full size bath (mandatory as you grow older). I would add one more: 1. Put your solar panels on wheels so that you can move them around to face the sun all day.

@tinyrealestate26837 жыл бұрын
Hi Helen, we haven't had to have any dealings with them so I do not have anything good nor bad to say about them. We just keep to ourselves, are nice to our neighbours and take care of the land which has been good for us. :-)

I was going to ask the same thing. I’m looking to eventually buy a block and possibly get a tiny house but I’ve read so many stories about the council getting in the way. I looked in my shire and I don’t think it’s legal to even live in a tiny house for over one year on your own property! I hope by the time I’m ready the laws will be better as the Australian population is only going to grow.

Do you have a car? Shed? Mowers, garden tools, etc? Where do they get stored? Wondering if this idea is viable here where I live can buy houses around $200,000 & even under (ready to move in to). By the time I pay $50,000 plus for a tiny home & add cost of a block of ground (or rent it) & services -power/solar/generator , grey water/drainage/sewage, septic/toilet, landscaping, shed & anything else I've forgotten this tiny home would work as expensive as an existing home, if not more expensive!??
