Benny y’all are fortunate to have that cold weather up there for one reason, and that is you don’t have to gut and process your deer right away, down here we try to get to them while they are just seconds dead, and then rush to gut and get to the cooler. Sometimes the yellow jackets will eat you and the deer , they don’t wait on the coyotes.
@campbenny6 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is one nice part for sure. We let them hang all week. I've hunted out west and just like you said, we had to get them to the cooler right after they hit the ground.

As always another wonderful video. Our camp is just North of yours I'm guessing we're in the Seney area. We drove into 16+ inches of snow. Although we saw deer everyday we passed on a handful of small spikes our neighbor's boy got his first buck a smaller fork horn. We've defiantly seen better deer numbers the last 3 years. There's just nothing like deer camp in the UP with friends and family. Cant wait for next year.

That is a used barber chair that my nephew gave me after I told him I was searching for one to go in the blind. They work perfectly. Super comfortable, quiet, swivel 360 degrees, foot rest, arm rests, insulated seat and have a foot pump to raise and lower the seat silently. Thanks for watching!

OH, I guess you did not the bulletin about deer hunting. You cannot shoot a spike. That is NOT considered a SHOOTER deer!!! You know like the farm fed deer. You cannot take pride in a spike. OMG it has to have giant horns or you have to turn to the camera and say," it is not a shooter or what we are looking for today"! hahaha. So, nice to see somebody PROUD of hunting and enjoying the gift of any deer even a nice spike. You guys hunt the north woods where you are lucky to see a deer or a buck and not too proud to take advantage of what you are given!!! Good hunting!
@michaelhaulotte6894 жыл бұрын
Todd Souhrada , I know I was proud of a spike back when I was a spike . 👍

Good video you's got 1 nice buck and 2 dinks lol can't get a big one if you shoot a little one first
@campbenny6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Glenn. Much appreciated. I think everyone should shoot at least a couple of dinks legally in their lifetime. Why should a newer hunter care ? Gain some experience and get some deer under your belt I say. Those dinks were shot with the single buck tag. You are right in that they won't get any bigger and that's why I choose to pass generally but I'd never give any one crap for shooting something small.
@glennwilcox67406 жыл бұрын
@@campbenny definitely understand what your saying and I didn't think I was giving anyone crap lol just said not going to get a big one if u shoot a little one first and I know most true hunters go out there looking to tag a nice buck to hang on the wall
@nickadams22706 жыл бұрын
@@glennwilcox6740 "True hunters" True hunters hunt for meat that's how this all started remember.. Hunting just for horns will be the end of deer hunting as we know it, if it keeps going... Looking down your nose like that you aren't seeing the forest for the trees... If you want to pass on smaller deer good for you, I however wouldn't insinuate anyone who kills any legal deer that they are happy with as anything less than a true hunter..

@@nickadams2270 wow this has turned into a bash session over me saying they won't get a big one shooting a little one first lol it's great they shot deer no matter the size but I'll bet they would love to shoot bigger bucks and shooting a little one isn't going to get them a big one take that how you want hunt how you want shoot what u want makes no difference to me there not my deer

When determining if it is a point or not you do no not measure from the center of the beam or “bone” as mentioned in the video.
@campbenny6 жыл бұрын
Good catch. Here's what the 2018 Michigan Hunting Guide describes..... "A legal point must be at least 1 inch long as measured from its tip to the nearest edge of the antler beam." Thanks for watching !

U.p deer just dont get big anymore had 12 spikes a couple 3 points 2 4 points and 3 spikes with barely. Inch of horn and a 7 that comes in on snow storm and a 6 that does the same, took a 4 point on last day

Super video again! You looked a lot thinner back in the day. LOL! Your camp is what all Michigan deer camps should be. Shooting what ever buck you see. This "big" buck only crap is what is ruining deer hunting in Michigan. I have shot many 8 pointers and 2 bigger 9 points and I get the same thrill with a nice spiker. Keep it up guys! Apr guys are crazy and remember that big buck has no different genes than when he was a little guy. So letting them grow big for breeding purpose is a pretty silly excuse.

Nice to see people hunting "real" deer for a change instead of those oversized, genetically altered giants we all see on TV.This is a lot more realistic to me.If everyone waits for just the biggest ones, not many people will be successful.I shot a 150 lb spike a couple weeks ago with my pistol, that made it a trophy to me & he will eat just fine.
