@@boblatkey7160 Care to elaborate on that? What would heavily use be? And what do you attribute it to? Is it the battery, the inverter, the heat? The power station units are very tempting for all in one solution compared o battery plus inverter plus having to install outlets, cables, etc. But if they are not reliable for a permanent setup because they can't handle the daily use (for years) then it's not good. I like that you have broken this down into a package. One of the problems with solar installations or off grid stuff is they are either building the house from scratch or are adapting their life to fit things and having a fridge, freezer or cooking electric is ignored. We have a fire ban in Finland since May so cooking using a electric when camping is now the way forward.

Thanks again.

Out of interest, it might be worth mentioning the typical daylight hours in Columbia. Your evening cooking looks like you may have still had sunshine. I'd also be interested how long on average you felt the Ecoflow wasn't charging as it was 100% and if one of the expansions would be good value should you have consecutive dark days or more load. Obviously this would be speculative.
@Everlanders Жыл бұрын
Because we're so close to the equator, daylight is basically 6am to 6pm year-round. We never really sit on 100% very long, we always dumped that power into something, lots of caramelized onions in the freezer. But these two panels would have no problems with an extra battery.... If you had the load for it.
@corries.6906 Жыл бұрын
Hello, and thank you for your informative videos. I would greatly appreciate your advice on my situation. I just purchased two Ecoflow Delta 2s and they each come with Ecoflow's 220W portable solar panels. Additionally, I purchased a two pack of their 160W portable solar panels. I got caught up in the Prime Day pressure to buy, and did not have time to do proper research. I live off-grid in Fiji, but am in the US for the summer. I will be putting these products in a container, to be shipped home before I leave the US at the end of August, so I have a few weeks to correct my mistakes, and make sure I'm sending myself a set-up that will work well. In Fiji, I would like to be using the Delta 2s to run a 7 cubic foot chest freezer 24/7, keep a laptop and two cell phones charged, and power a couple of lights each evening for a few hours. Beyond that, I would fire up additional electrical luxuries (like a Vitamix blender, or an ice cream maker) only once in awhile, and only if available power allowed. The chest freezer is the priority, and everything else can and will be put to the side in order to keep it powered. So, from this video I have gathered that I need to return the two 160W portable panels, and purchase one rigid 400W panel. One of the Delta 2s would be dedicated full time to the chest freezer, and hooked up to the rigid 400W panel. The other would be a back-up, and would be charged using the included two 220W flexible/portable panels. Does this sound right? Again, thank you very much for your time.
@Everlanders Жыл бұрын
Flexible panels are always the wrong choice for fixed installations... They are not made for constant UV exposure. Whatever you spent on portable panels could easily buy you triple the wattage with rigid panels. It's probably a lot cheaper to buy these rigid panels in Asia as that's where they're all originating anyway... and be careful with importing a bunch of American appliances, as I believe Japan uses the 50hz standard as opposed to the 60hz used in North America. It may not matter off grid, but if you buy other appliances in JP they will likely have 50hz motors and hum on 60hz
@corries.6906 Жыл бұрын
@@Everlanders Thank you very much for the quick response! I just finished watching the previous video, the deep dive on the Delta 2 Max. I had to pause it so that I could really take my time to laugh at the "ain't nobody got time for that" segment. That saying, and that lady's video have been one of my favorite things for YEARS! Thank you for that. Back to the topic at hand... I am not in Japan, or Asia, I am in Fiji (an island group in the South Pacific), however they, too, use the 50hz standard. Do you say "be careful when importing a bunch of American appliances" because I would then only be able to use them with my American bought Delta 2s? This actually brings up another question I have, which might be better posed to Ecoflow: can I use a step up/step down converter with the Delta 2? I do have a couple of kitchen electrics purchased in Fiji that I would like to be able to run, again, only once in awhile, with excess power, using the Delta 2s at home. That converter should also allow me to use the few American appliances I will import on their grid, if need be. Please let me know if you have any corrections for this plan: I will exchange the 160W portable panels for rigid panels that will be hooked up to the Delta 2 that will run the chest freezer 24/7. The two 220W flexible panels (which were part of a package deal with the Delta 2s) will be used to charge the second/back-up Delta 2, and will be brought in each day once charging is finished, in order to extend their life. Again, thank you very much for your time. Safe and happy travels to you!

@Everlanders Hello again. Well, it seems that moving these units around the world is no easy feat. I've just learned that I am unable to ship my two Delta 2s to myself in Fiji unless I become a "known shipper," which requires special training. I tried going through EcoFlow's website to see about having it shipped directly from Ecoflow to Fiji...no dice. For fun, I entered an address in Columbia, too...no dice (they must have made a special exception for you?). I am now trying to see if I can return my very expensive Prime Day impulse buys. I'm so frustrated and disappointed. These were going to be life changing for me. Maybe I'll be able to order them from Ecoflow Australia, when they're finally released there.

Though the single D2Max seems to be serving you well so far, with two more panels and an additional add-on D2Max Smart battery, you’d have all the power you could want as well as resilience for cloudy days etc. for a reasonable price. I just got the D2Max as well with one additional battery and the dual fuel generator with four glass solar panels. Though this won’t power my house entirely, I plan to do exactly as you’ve suggested by putting certain loads on this system and allowing it to work at offsetting some of our consumption. All while being available to power up critical loads during an outage. Great job!!!

Can you tell me what the make and model of the solar panels are? As I like this review it’s good, and you have there a proven System working and I’d like to buy it, but I’d like to know what the solar panels are. Thanks

Is there a difference between the xt60 and xt60i cables when charging?
@Everlanders8 ай бұрын
The XT60i is used to signal the unit that it's connected to a higher wattage supply, and not just a 12v car lighter socket. But I just used the regular XT60 without any issues. It's smart enough to know that 20 - 50 volts is probably Solar and it just worked without any drama.

Great real life review! I'm thinking of getting a Delta 2 Max for overlanding use, while in the future when I'll build a campervan to integrate it. Now I'm also thinking it might be useful in the house while it's not used? There aren't many power surges where I live, but could it be used to "supplement" the electricity from the network in order to lower the bill?

For sure, just add solar...

@@Everlanders In the meantime I've talked to the Ecoflow local dealer. They also sell a microinverter that is basically just plug and play, no modifications required, so it's accessible to news like myself. Adding a couple of solar panels will get you a backup plus some additional kWh to lower your bill. Very interesting setup.

They are fantastic for camping and temporary use applications but if you use the heck out of it at your home it will break.

Even if you fully charge and discharge daily, it will take 10 years to reach the 3500 cycles, and even then you'll still have 80% capacity.

Hello! I appreciate your informative video but wanted to verify some details. At 16:08 in your video, you mentioned the possibility of adding two more JaSolar 545W solar panels and connecting them in parallel to each input of the Delta 2 Max. However, I came across some specifications of the JaSolar 545W panel, which states that it has an Isc (short circuit current) of 13.93A and Voc (open circuit voltage) of 49.75V. Considering the Delta 2 Max's limitation of 11-60V and 15A per port, connecting two JaSolar 545W panels in parallel (2 in each port) would result in a total current of 27.86A, exceeding the Delta 2 Max's 15A per port limit. Could you please verify this information or let me know if I've overlooked something? Thank you for sharing your insights!
@Everlanders Жыл бұрын
Total "available" current of 27.86... But the Ecoflow will only "Take" up to 15 (per port)... if there is more on a super sunny day, it just won't be able to accept it all. The current is pulled, not pushed.

@@Everlanders Thank you for your response! I appreciate your clarification regarding the Ecoflow's current acceptance. So, if there's more current available from the solar panels than the Ecoflow can take (15A per port), it simply won't be able to utilize the excess current. Just to confirm, this won't cause any damage to the Ecoflow unit, correct? I want to ensure that the system operates within its safe limits. Thank you for your assistance!
