We use them for parts delivery. Have one 2018 with over 120 thousand miles on it with zero issues. Just went and got a 2020 Saturday. It does what we need them to do . It’s pretty good in the snow on roads. We did not buy them to take off road lol. they just run all day long delivery parts for us

They're good cars. The engine is a Mazda engine. My wife loves her titaniums heated seat and the snow tires and all wheel drive handle snow easily. It's actually an impressive little vehicle.

@@-dodup-5970 If you live in a flat area and drive between 65-70mph (and have properly aired tires and windows up), you can net 40mpg all day long. its a little higher at slower highway speeds (55-60 mph). The power to weight difference between the ecoboost and the standard 4cyl engine is minimal, however the ecoboost burns less at idle, has a better torque curve, and other things that makes it a little easier to achieve better MPG. I've been using the selectshift some more recently. Getting into sixth and just cruising has netted me a couple more mpg on the highway. So it really is all about how you drive and maintain the car.

It’s pronounced “EchoSport” not “Ecosport” because it was designed in Brazil at the first generation (2002), where we pronounce “EchoSport” in Portuguese. The word is “Eco” has same meaning as in English, just different pronunciation.

That reminds me I saw a stock 90s civic climbing up to Left Hand Res at Brainard Lake. All other vehicles were Tacomas and such like and here was this little civic gleefully sending sparks as it bounced off rocks climbing at the trail I was having trouble just biking up. I was floored!

When I went up Gold Mine Hill in my Jeep Patriot this past May, there was a Honda CRV between Stage 2 and Stage 3 car camping. But the other commenter is right, there is a regular dirt road from the top and Stage 3 has a bypass.

Why all the gas efficiency hate?. It's an AWD vehicle that weighs 3300 pounds! 27 city, 30mpg highway is pretty normal actually. But yea, maybe it wasn't a good idea for Ford to name it that though..maybe they should have called it an 'Escape Sport.'. A much better idea I think. However, a Subaru Forester weighs about the same and gets 26/32 so.... The EcoSport is about normal. They should've called it the Escape Sport.

I've watched fast lane truck videos for years and actually bought one of these last week for my lady's daily. 2018 Titanium in the Burgundy/red color. I'm very impressed with it's driving on roads so far. I don't plan to off-road with it but a cool test nonetheless. should handle west virginia & pa snowy roads and boondock back roads

My 2018 Eco-Sport SE AWD has been getting 26 mpg city and 33 mpg highway and I've had no problems on steep incline off road with the standard tires. I'd buy another one.

@@crypticreality8484 I have an '18 SES. It has paddle shifters. The only year it came with those. Still runs fine, and it's great in the snow. We've gotten quite a bit of it lately, and the thing just rolls right through it. Got a foot of it in the driveway, and no need to shovel. Good ground clearance and the AWD does everything for you. There's no way to lock it in 4WD, though. Just gotta let the computers figure it out.

I have a 2021 titanium. I live in L.A. and always worry about hitting a hard pothole. Nope, no problem with potholes. During the rainy season was like off roading, no slipping. So great. Love this car, but i drive it most in ecoboost mode. It actually doesn't save on mileage. Gonna try it in sport and get back

I have a 2019 ecosport and have gotten out of some pretty gnarly mud holes, it's definitely not a Jeep by any means but it can get you out of sticky situations, the main thing that I found useful is to turn traction control off and use my paddle shifters to stay in first gear then it'll send itself out of a pretty bad mud hole

the name is to fit in with Fords other SUVs which all have a short Eh sound, Escape, Edge, Explorer, Expedition (and elsewhere in the world the Equator, Endura and Everest) There is also the good old Ford E-Series often marketed as the Econoline with the same short Eh sound

AWD hits its limits quickly. I wound up in a blizzard w/ a rental EcoSport. It did ok...until it didn't. Got stuck on the interstate and had to pay $275 for a tow. Nightmare scenario...one I won't soon forget.

Thanks for the review, enjoy watching anything go off road. One thing though, you guys keep saying on this and many other videos “not enough tire”, this car has and other similar cars have little articulation so even if they had Ko2s on em and they were in the air, these cars wouldn’t go anywhere. Even with little articulation if it had a good 4wd system even a TC based one it would brake the free spinning tires and the ones that are on the ground would move the car enough to level the tires on the ground and off it would go.

Hope this gets better MPG than it's rated. My wife's 2016 Escape got similar number when new and after about 10k miles it started to get phenomenal mileage for an AWD vehicle. We average 27mpg mixed during the summer with 70% city driving. We have gotten up to high 30's on long highway drives during the winter months in snow storms. The little 1.6 ecoboost is a remarkable engine, albeit rather sluggish under 30 mph

You're wrong TR P. With four adults and heavy Alaskan winds it still gets over 30mpg. We have the 1.6 and its been very efficient. Maybe you had a dud or drive aggressively.

Our's gets fantastic economy. An acquaintance of mine recently got one with the same engine with similar mileage. Also, it doesn't feel that heavy when driving around. It is nimble and stops well for sure. 0-20mph is sluggish, but once the little turbo spools up it takes off nicely. This Escape is a great family vehicle and my wife loves it.

Our 2018 SES Ecosport came with 2 factory crossbars in the storage compartment (included not ordered etc..) your dealer probably snagged them to resell. Yes agreed Echosport is a weird pronunciation why not pronounced EchoBoost? But yes if offroading need AT or even better MT tires and taller tires fit and give more clearance and a 2 inch lift does wonders. Bought new in August 2020 and dealer offering us $2k more than we paid for it then?? Supply chain bonus if sellling a used car in Feb. 2022. Rear tire hangers available so far we added a spare under back the adjustable floor that takes up some cargo room if on a trip we add cargo rack to our factory cross rails and cand put our spare up there during the trip if we want more interior cargo. Agreed it was a horrible decision not adding the tire carrier seen on Ecosport models worldwide.

WE have a 2020 ecosport se 4wd, but the tires on these are basically for street right off the lot. Sure, it would be interesting to see what one of these would do with some good off roading tires, or tire/street tires, I suspect alot of folks who can afford it have done a tire change if their needs are roads a little rougher than the highway or in town. As for us, we don't want to damage our "work car", by going off road and chipping the paint, etc etc but maybe someday we will once it gets older and gets more dings from careless people in parking lots opening their doors, we won't worry. We've had ours for almost eight months and we love the car, with a bronze metallic paint color.

Mine is awesome in the snow and ice here. Put it in sport mode and it boogies, sport mode and turn the traction control off and it pulls you back in the seat when it gets to 60 km/h. 2.0 with awd. I have all season's on currently and the AWD is awesome. Never has it slipped. It has a very smooth ride. The other day fresh wet snow. The road's where very slippery. The truck behind me was fishtailing and going into the next lane on a turn. Not me. I definitely would not take this off road though as it is a new car. That's why I have a samurai ;) The small size is awesome in the parking lot's as you take up half the space. As I am tall the side swing door is convenient for me and easier. I can put the cart and open the door and still have lots of room in my parking spot. Also when dropping off the kids it shields them from cars driving by. Took it on a few trips out of town no problem. We pass everybody that is going to slow. On major highway's always in the left lane. Top speed we have reached was 110 mph. Does not seem to have a governor, unlike my trucks. Only thing I don't like is the Ecopia tires which are loud. But that can be changed. If you have problems seeing out of it lower the seat height makes a big difference. I wanted a small car looked at the focus RS but was $60,000. Wanted awd and the fiesta did not have it. So this was perfect and is high off the ground also. I also own corvette, samurai, motorcycles, f150, 2017 f250 for comparison.

I only like the first two generations of the Escape. After that they all started looking like tall cars. I know they are built like cars, but they did have better ground clearance and more off-road worthy drivetrains even if they were outdated.

I owned a 2007 version for 7 years and now I've had the 2014 version the last 4 years. The older version was way better for off-roading and resisted a lot of that pretty well. The newer version is almost the same as the one on this video (with less features) and it's not that good for off-roading, but for me it compensates that by being much better than the older version for city and highway. It's like a spacecraft on the inside and really comfortable, has much more space in the interior than the one on this video and a lot of security features. I love my EcoSport and already looking forward to buy a newer version. PS: mine is made in Brazil and has the rear spare hanging off the back. Lovely :D

I have the 2018 SES, and I'm really liking it. One thing I am definitely going to do with it though, is put a 2 inch lift on it, and replace the tires with Falken Wildpeak ATs. I have some property off the beaten path, and I want some slightly beefier tires to handle the little bit of terrain I'll be dealing with.

I'm not looking at doing any of the hardcore off-road stuff you would do in the vehicles you listed. instead, I NEED the lift in order to put the beefier tires on the wheels. The stock low profile street tires just simply aren't for the kind of light off-road stuff I will be encountering.

This is not true....ecosport is capable of carrying more than 1500lbs .....and we do that at least once in a month ......a a journey of 50 miles with about 1600lbs .....I love this car .....its been 7 years since we bought this car and we have driven 170000 miles.

At 4:59 when the thing stopped it appears that you drove into a rock that was higher than the right lower control arm. The thing seamed to grind to a stop. Nathan tire hanging off the back? The was the problem that the Rav-4's we had. Some numbnuts comes along and rear ends you he caves in the tire, the door, and the hinge/lock assemblys.

Had my titanium awd 2.0 for a yr now, great city car so so gas milage, but i have a heavy foot. Love the fact it can pull a 2000 pnd trailer, the awd with tires aired down has worked for me on Daytona beach and a few trails in the Ocala forest , I traded the 17inch wheels for 16s much better ride more sidewall, hate the rear hatch door, the gas tank is too small, but overall it does the job for me. So far its been trouble free. Would I purchase it again probably not. But for the price and what it is, its a good vehicle.

Well, on eco tyres (I tried a couple of those here in Europe they are horrible even on asphalt) without any differential lock solutions that is what you could expect there. Maybe a nice set of offroad tyres could get you further, but these were not designed to be taken offroad anyway.

Remember the Ecosport was designed in Brasil, so te pronunciation is in Portuguese, so Ford has it right. In fact, the original design, the one we have in Latin America, has a real full-size spare tire attached to the back door, that'a why it doesn't go up like the one of the H-RV.

Scott Seanor the Durango they took up gold mine hill recently was essentially the exact same quadra-trac 1 system you’d find in the base jgc Laredo 4x4. There’s a reason it’s not trail rated. It couldn’t make it up the 3rd stage of the trail.

I am not sure if the EPA estimates they list for the 1.0L ecoboost, i.e. why does it get 45MPG in the Focus FWD which is arguably the same weight and only slightly better aero, but something like 16MPG less in this thing, I am not buying his statement. I am pretty sure it should be greater than 29 highway MPGs if at least mid to high 30s.

As you said these vehs are not ment to be a Jeep, nor are they advertised as a hard core off roader. I have a 2014 Ford Escape ,4 wheel drive with 19in tires an wheels, an the 2.0 turbo an it does pretty good for getting around in snow an mud with street tires, I often wonder what it would do with more aggressive tires, I don't like the 19 in tires kind of an odd ball size. I'm looking at a real nice 2018 echo sport all wheel drive with the 2.0. I was wondering why Ford has reduced the horsepower rating from 270 down to 166.

I would be worried about the tires after what happened with Bridgestone in the early 2000’s with the tire treads coming off I would never put those tires on any car of mine I don’t care how many years ago it was I don’t trust firestone or Bridgestone tires👎🏻

In india ford ecosport is available with spare wheel hanging out in back, i utterly dislike it. I wish spare wheel is slotted in boot space. We dont have 4wheel version available out here in india, where normally our roads are full of potholes n broken. One thing i badly miss is availability of A/T tyres for ford ecosport, coz my place in india thats state of Arunachal Pradesh have worst roads in world viz muddy, crackpots, landslides total off road kinda path. Hopefully u guys are doing good review of usa version ecosport. I think u guys havent tried hard with this compact crossover cuv car. Expect to see thorough review with all mud slinging of ecosport next time soon. Dr Tapi here👍👍

Of course if you put the right tires on it would do that trail with no problem, but it is really for bad weather and broken streets in the city.

Where is spare tire placed? According to the models in my country, spare tire is mounted on back door.
