Jimny is a legendary vehicle. I wish I could get the new model. Duster has come a long way too. Good points for Duster is that not only its a capable off roader but also have plenty of space for family and daily chores. Jimny Falls short when it comes to space.

not bad, but if you'd have to take it off the road, it would struggle far more than jimny. also two different cars for two different breed of people: one for occasional off roaders and grocery runs, other for daily off roading and not much else. all rounder VS purposely built off roader. apples and pears ;)

@@ApocGuy Duster is the best in off road in smal land compact SUVs ..has long travel independent soft suspension which mak it comfortable even on rogu city streets amd speed bumps. It is reliable car. Auto bild tested it on 100.000 kilometers and mechanic reliability was more than OK. Just small problems with corosion..what Suzuki also have. Duster will be food in off road ,gravel roads, city driving and highway..Suzuki Jimny ..only off road for short people.

I like the Dacia Duster, it's a family car with off-road capabilities. Of course the Jimny is a real off-roader but the Duster did honorably. And it's made in Romania, my country!

They didn't. They drove through puddle of water not actual mud for the dirt to stay on the car. In the case of jimny it's probably because of the paint color that the dirt is not visible.

My dad has the 1st gen Duster with the 2.0L 16V petrol engine and 4×2 (its a fwd model as we just needed space and being affordable and reliable, no need for offroading). You could say, we can get an estate but getting into a low height car gets annoying so yeah the Duster is genuinely a great car to do almost anything in.

In germany i drove my 1976 CJ7 jeep up beside the bleachers to watch a motor cross race. After a bit some of the Germans in the bleachers encouraged me to join the race. At first i was reluctant to do so as i thought i would get into trouble, but they enthusiastically wanted me to do it. I shifted into 4x4 high and jumped the berm and entered the race. I made one lap with the bikes going rather fast, even getting a bit of air over the woops, then exited over the berm where i had entered. The announcer was talking about it over the PA. Everyone was cheering about it!

Having owned and driven both vehicles extensively, I have my doubts that the Jimny can beat the Duster so far. Feels a bit staged if you ask me. The Jimny is purely a play thing. It has virtually no space for luggage and is very slow and unstable when cruising the highway. Buy it if you are a single person who frequently wants to go and have adventure off the beaten track. You will have lots of fun. The Duster is more like a normal car in all aspects, but can also handle quite a bit of off-roading, it is certainly better than your average AWD SUV in that respect. Buy it if you are a family man who wants to go camping with the kids off the beaten track every once in a while, or want to go and have the odd bit of fun on a low difficulty grade 4X4 trail every now and then.
