just seen this truck at Gopher dunes in Ontario on April 25th 10 ! didn't look like much of a off road truck but I didn't get to really have time to check it right out! I would have thought they would have tried to prove to the crowd how it did in the off road? but I just seen this truck drive all the way around the course!

because, if you want to trail ride, on quad trails, you can do both, i know people who take their trucks to parks and do that, also people who go to sand dunes like glamis or something like that, could use both, and quads can go 100+MPH ;) my friends have gotten theirs up to around 120MPH

I don't know if I would call it a desert racer but it is a huge improvement no doubt. I like the direction they are going with it but a few more inches of travel would be nice but then on road would suffer. All and all I like it. First factory truck really close to what I want.

@cal920c They sure do :). It tows an extra 2,000 lbs. and I think the wheelbase is an extra 20? inches longer.

If you actually did some research, you would have found out that while it may be true that they didn't redesign the tread pattern, they did go and alter the tires composition. They changed the tread compound to improve both on and off road performance. They also did some modifications to the interior of the tire...

Dude. Seriously. All three companies have their nut huggers. I am a hardcore GM guy but Ford is doing some great stuff lately. The Focus RS and now this. Hell I bought a base, short box, reg cab 4 cyl, manual Ranger because it was $6000 less than a simillar Colorado even with my dad's GM discount. Props to Ford for putting 35's on a stock vehicle. However I would still buy a Rubicon over this. Still a sick truck though.

The 6.2L is one of two new V8 engine from Ford, so they have to introduce it into a great truck to build the buzz. Anyways, seeing how this truck has plenty of in-house goodies and relatively low cost, you can put some good GT25's or 35's and a nice intercooler if you wanted to on both engines.

alright, it's fast. most of raptors videos shows it's speed. how about it's towing and hauling capacity? the total payload it can carry? i haven't seen any videos on it. Trucks are not ment for high speed. it's built for work

@snake322 1. It's Lightning, not lightnight. 2. The SOHC 3V V8 in this Raptor is nothing like the all aluminum, dry sump oiling, DOHC V8 in the Ford GT. 3. Hennessy already supercharged one of these that makes 500hp to the crank.

I meant "pitch" as in sales pitch. It sounds more like he's a Ford rep than a magazine guy. Don't get me wrong, i think the truck is sweet, and he probably does too. But he sounds like a company guy. It's just not what I'm used to hearing. Usually they seem to try to pick everything apart.

though it is a great truck though. you can always mod that engine to get alot of torque though. though it seems it already has enough torque as is. that's what i think though.

I can see were your coming from with your comment.But even if its the first vehicle of its kind to come off the assembly line, it should still be near perfect with all the expertise and engineers that ford has and its not like its a brand new truck.There just taking off road and heavier duty parts to make it.(from what I understand),The way I see it. its like if Ford would just start selling there trucks with a 4 inch lift kit.Not that complicated.But I cant wait to see how that 6.2L does.
