The small box is looks like it would be perfect to use in Jeep or Toyota as an auxiliary fuse box. Need to keep this in mind when I rewire my Tacoma!

Damn those prices are on point. I've looked into those Eaton weathertight boxes they aren't cheap and that's empty. Add all the weatherpak connectors and little do-dads to make the connection and weathertightness and it's up there. Definitely costs close to that price if not more to do one yourself and that's if your time is worth $0.

So would this work for an update to a 20 year old overland Jeep build? It is a really clean setup, Both of them. Or just for buggys.

should work great, you might just need the bigger box if you have a lot of accessories.

Is this what you're using in the turn key buggies still? I'm a big wiring and plumbing nerd on the race car side of things, and stuff is progressing so fast over there this stuff feels ancient (even if extremely quality and well thought out). I'm willing to gamble you could really up the fit and finish of your stuff with a PMU16. Same with the plumbing side, are you guys using brown and miller stuff yet? I know this video is older, and I think you guys clearly set and raised the bar for turn key buggies and I definitely want to see you guys keep that trend up!

Does this use ground or power switches to activate the relays? I plan to order the 16 circuit box for my Jeep build. I've priced out those boxes and all the necessary connectors and pins and wire. You cannot beat the price for either system.

2 years ago @$299... That was a damn good price point as long as the included wire was legit SXL, GXL, TXL or better (I thought it odd you didn't reference what type 🤔).. I shudder to think what they cost now, with even junk GPT PVC wire costing almost double what it did just two short years ago..🙈🙉🙊 I think these types of units are the only way to go for individuals who have gaping holes in their electrical knowledge, don't have the time to build custom or only need simplified On/Off Aux circuits. The only downside to these units is when you want to get into complex switching of the circuits.. IE: Using multiple relays, multiple inputs or multiple polarities to manipulate a single output like, reverse pods on automatically, w/manual on/off override or splitting that type of circuit between upper & lower pods. In some cases it can be done, but the margin for error is increased as your translating your relay pinouts to the connector pinouts & having to trust you've translated correctly. If i had to do mine all over again, I'm not sure which way id go.. After Tooling, Parts, Terminals, Seals, Crosslinked Wire, Connector systems, bussing systems, I'm well over a Couple Grand.. but on the other hand I can build any automotive system I could ever think of... from 4/0 Battery systems to PDM's systems ... from scratch. At price points like the one above, it would be a tough call. Hey don't forget your cavity plugs man! I didn't see any in the module you had mounted on your rig. That's the quickest way to destroying the system (I know you know that, but most people visiting this link probably don't)

just be honest about what your selling and stop trying to act like you are making this product. its an Eaton VEC its a good product and you had jack shit to do with its development. Its used as an OEM power distribution system in a variety of applications.
@scooter0410314 жыл бұрын
I think you are reading into it to much. I think Jake is saying they made these as more of a plug and play for buggies. Like actually putting them together, having the correct length wires, setting up the way the switching works for the relays, etc. You can set any of Eaton's fuse relay boxes up many different ways and I think that's what he's getting at. Clearly not that he created the box otherwise he would of tried to hide the Eaton branding.
@DieselRamcharger4 жыл бұрын
@@scooter041031 he actually did try and hide the eaton logo. relays are nc or no and i gurantee they are all set to no. all the wires are the same length, its a generic harness from eaton. they need to just admit they are distributiing this product instead of trying to pretend its unique to them. this video was also TERRIBLE at explaining the actual features of the PDC
@BustedKnuckleOffRoad4 жыл бұрын
These are not an off the shelf Eaton product, we have them assembled with specific parts for our builds. You cannot get this exact product from anyone else.
