This is absolutely my favorite rescue that I've ever done and I don't know if anything will be able to top it! The Central Oregon T-Bums are a group of antique car enthusiasts who go on overloading and off road trips in there 100+ year old cars. They take these things places that a lot of modern rigs won't go and do it just like it was done back in the old days! On their latest trip they were in the middle of the Ochoco National Forest when they got caught in a surprise thunderstorm that saturated the area. They had to take shelter in their cars and by the time the storm had passed, the ground was so muddy that they couldn't get out. So they stayed the night in the woods, and then I headed out the next day with my @Jeep TJ-6 to try and get them out. Once we got to them it had dried out enough that some were able to make it out on their own, and were then able to recover the others, but the 1921 Studebaker was stuck pretty bad. So we used a combination of winching with my @harborfreight Apex winch, and pulling with my @YankumRopes to get it free and up the hill. By that time another thunder storm was coming in fast and we had to get out of the woods as the thunder and lighting started coming in behind us.

Casey. Thanks for rescuing these guys. I know a couple of them. We belong to some of the same vintage camping collectives, as well as the Model T Ford Club of America. They are not the only crazy group to use their cars off road. We have members who have driven from Texas to Alaska. One guy who logs as much as 10, 000 miles a year in his T mostly gravel and off road. We live in the Ozarks of Arkansas and use our 27 T and vintage camping equipment to run trails and camp in the Ozark National 0:13 Forest of Arkansas and Missouri as much as we can. We need more young guys to pick up the torch and keep these old cars in the woods. Nice video, and thanks again ..

Your favorite recovery is my favorite video. Anyone who purposely takes cars like that off-roading has my ultimate respect and you know theyre a group of guys that never have bad days, just days with more with better stories. You definitely need to take a trip with them some day even if you just have the TJ as a support vehicle because their adventures deserve to be documented. I challenge anyone to show me an offroad club in this country that has more bragging rights than these guys. Henry Ford would be proud!🇺🇲

As a guy who has loved the Model T since I was 11, back in 1965, this was the coolest rescue EVER!!! That poor Studebaker sure didn't like mud. And, for the young viewers, that really was the way roads were back in the early 1900's, and Model T's were the 4wd's of their day. Great Video, Casey!!

My mother was born in 1919 and grew up in the out back of Australia. There were no made roads and she used to tell stories about cars like these getting bogged in mud and in sand, and it taking many hours to travel the 100 miles to the nearest town. First I want to share with members of the forum, this "Casey", is just a outstanding guy, I have seen him help basically a homeless person, living out of a car-stuff some money between the locked car door, then tow this car for free-YES KZbin helps him by paying him with his videos-watch him enough and and you see the REAL person, who lives in Oregon, has a huge heart and I have helped him in many ways ( buying some hats and hoodies)-The entertainment value is just outstanding. Watch and see a Ford with wooden wheels go where only a jeep can go, and he has TIRE chains on those wooden wheels-Just outstanding!!

Casey, I failed to mention just how incredible I found this video!! Who would’ve imagined?! I bet “Grumpy” would’ve loved this. Makes me proud to see that everyone in this video knows how the ground will change as the sun warms things up and when a storm is inbound, they know the urgency of their short window of opportunity. When a person (Man or woman) can look up at the clouds around them they can tell if something is brewing and how bad, that’s the kind of person you can trust in the woods! Well done on the editing! We should call this group the; “empty holster gang” or; “over the hill gang” lol. Great men to hang around!

Let me see if I got this right: Get your senior citizen buddies together. Strap every artifact from the Louis and Clark expedition onto your 100 year old cars and head off into the backwoods during an epic storm. Swamp two of them in a flooded creek. Drain 4 gallons of creek water out of the crankcase then start it on the first tug of the hand crank and head off across a boulder mine field on 100 year old wooden spoke wheels, century old axles and springs while your buddy is putting out a potential forest fire by himself with a broken bucket and wet shirt. Walk back to fetch your lost wheel to reinstall with a makeshift bolt. Ponder whether any of these incidents are enough to earn the golden Turd award. And by the way, don't step on the rattle snake!!! Here's me, sitting on the couch watching KZbin videos. In my next life I want to be one of these guys!

One hour of pure gold.... No issue with this being an hour long video. You're right, way too much cool content to leave out. And yes, you've made alot of good videos, but this is the best content yet. I don't think you will ever top this one.

Such an amazing rescue Casey! Looked and sounded like a blast! But just imagine what it was like FOR REAL back in that time when there were no roads or bridges. I don’t think there was a lot of laughter back then! Seeing him drive up that hill bouncing around, in color, WOW that was amazing! That was the closest we’ll get to a real Time Machine!

This brings back memories of working with an older gentleman back a (while) ago. He used to tell of the time in his childhood when they were traveling on dirt roads and his father would just turn loose of the steering wheel at 30 miles an hour. The tires would follow the ruts in the "road" they traveled, his mom screaming all the time. He called following those ruts "cooning the edges." I enjoyed the video very much and wouldn't minded if had been longer. Those cars had to be tough because they were the truly the first off-road vehicles because back when they were built there weren't a lot of paved, much less, gravel roads.

My Grandparents immigrated to Canada from Nebraska sometime around 1910. Watching this makes me wonder what their trip was like. What were the roads like back then, probably not much better then this? This really was an awesome episode. I am a mechanic, I am lost at how well those old buggies did. I wouldn't take my 2015 Sierra through that LOL ( It's a bit of a pavement princess )

In the early 20th century, when paved roads were a rarity, the Ford Model T was in its prime, effortlessly cruising along dusty and bumpy country lanes. Its robust construction and adaptability made it the ideal vehicle for these challenging terrains, demonstrating its true capabilities and durability.
