I love the landscape. Been to s.d. many times and it always feels like…this is where I belong. I can breathe! I’ve been to Phillip!! Wow. Had friends that lived there. Stayed in a little motel in Martin s.d. and the radio alarm woke us up to Indian music. My husband jumped up and said “quick, circle the cars”! When we walked around town all the Native American kids would point and laugh at my husband. He is a redhead and I don’t think they ever seen anyone with red hair before. We found people living in sod houses, never been off their plot of land in their life. Love it there! Thanks for bringing back wonderful memories.

This is so impressive. These people are proud of where they live! Manicured lawns and fields everywhere, no place lacking attention. Wonderful. The river area was gorgeous! I could sit there all day and listen to those birds, beautiful! I really believe wars are nothing more than revenue, like now...so many out of work, businesses closed, banks hanging by threads, uncontrollable inflation, worldwide. That has always been their answer. Sad.

Beautiful woods at campground. I had nesting bald eagles on my property on the Washington coast. I loved their routine timed by the tides. Always knew when they were around because all the birds would go crazy harassing them to distract from their nests. Had an eye ball to eye ball encounter with a mother eagle protecting her juvenile which is one of the most impressive experiences of my life. They have a distinct squawk.

I live in south central Kansas, all of our small towns look like that here. Business long since gone, schools consolidated , and churches closed, due to money. Only thing left is the houses people still live in, because rent is cheap or they are family homesteads. Buildings are standing abandoned and every single little town has the grain elevators you saw, so farmers didn't have to drive far to dump their grain. Only towns that have businesses now are mostly 3,000 population or more.

That was a really nice ghost town. I get why you would want to live there. I'd want to fix it up and bring in new ppl but ppl that would help the town not hurt it, that would be the challenge. I'd want to leave as much as the old buildings that I could with just enough modernizing as needed for an old town like that but in disguise.
