It looked like a vulture, hawks aren't that graceful and it was being chased by those smaller birds. I see that alot on our ranch, cheeky guys for being so small... Badlands is stunning! I rode my motorcycle through there several years ago and fell in love! And I love your new way of putting up info on the places you visit. And I just love how Sadie rides shotgun, too stinkin cute!

Beautiful country, wow coyotes plus!! Our dogs lie on the sofa and growl at the coyotes from under their blankets LOL! Thank you, as always, for sharing the history of the area and your well produced video. You always capture the essence of the area you are traveling through. You have given my husband and I quite a bucket list of places we long to travel to. Thank you for sharing, happy travels to you and Sadie. Be well:)

Thanks for this video. Listening to the songs of the crickets in the background is very relaxing, and the juxtaposition of the flat grasslands with the grizzled, oddly sculpted badlands mud and rock formations, is strikingly beautiful.

I've been through there many times & at different times of the day, my favorite is when we're returning back to MN from the west in the golden hour. My last visit was a few years ago, a big soaking thunderstorm had come in the day before - the angle of the sun highlighted the green grasses, tiny white flowers & saturated rocks - felt like a million shades & looked like a watercolor painting.

Super awesome. All the formations look like they were once structures, buildings, steeples etc that have been worn down with the winds and time. That area is very different than the grand canyon. Thanks for sharing these wonders

Thanks Carolyn for another great video and a reminder of a great trip I and my family took out west. We entered the Bad Lands from the east and will never forget coming up a prairie rise with grass on both sides and suddenly having all the dirt hills and valleys laid at my feet. I was amazed at how narrow the ridges were and the foot trails about 6 to 10 inches wide you could walk on as you were out exploring. Also remember the constant wind and wild animals all around. Again, thank you and Sadie for taking us along on your travels!

We have those noises-coyotes, running around in our front yard, back yard, a couple times a month, and we live in the city. There used to be cotton fields and bottom land(thicket, trees, marshy) where they lived a few times a year for babies.

GASP! (Coyotes!) Yes, Sadie, they will make a meal of you. They do hunt in packs. The "big bird and baby birds" are local birds trying to chase away a hawk. They know there's safety in numbers, and don't want their fledglings munched.

16:21 amazing shot! Would make a great sticker or postcard! I love this video. When I stayed in the Badlands National Park many years ago, I remember being so freaked out by the prairie dogs at night. I didn’t find out what they were until the next morning. When I saw them I laughed so hard because I was scared of those cute little things the night before in my tent. Fun memory. The bison are awesome too. I got some cool pictures of them outside of my vehicle. Not smart, but great shots. I wish I could find the photographs! I love your trip East for the summer!
