On the river slaney there is a lot of privately owned fishing rights and charge huge sums of money to fish there water have these people ever been approached to help out with cleaning rivers spawning areas etc most anglers and clubs go by the law and have morals ,

Watched my local river so much simon ,my god huge water ,water from july on , very very few fish my god ,saw only two tiny runs huge flood on it as we speak im not see in fish ,hope im wrong ,my river the mulcair is in trouble but greedy anglers still killing fish it s meant to be catch and release ,i think simon you ve good points but i dont trust irish anglers how do you feel about closeing river s for all angling from sept 1st or at least ban take ing fish in september ,but anglers wud still knock them on their head id rather every river close from 1st september disgusted with anglers killling fish with numbers so low ,ok one or two grilse i get but no killing double figure fish !

I think closing a river completely is a draconian measure that usually produces the opposite of conserving stocks. It opens a river up to poaching because there's no presence on it. IFI policy needs proper change
