I don't think the gym approach works at all nowadays, last time I hit gym with a friend and I was just jokingly whisper to him "dude she's hotttt" and my friend goes "bro chill you're getting really creepy" I was like even with bros and having guys conversation, they default themselves like that trying not to be a creep by not talking about women at all But my friend's case might be different, since that friend of mine never get any girls, it's just kinda surprised me that he said that, kinda a conversation killer

Get comfortable with just talking to people. There isn't a special key. Women are people just like you. In my opinion, I like it when a guy is capable of just having a conversation. Also, don't always ask for a number. Giving out your number takes the stress off and gives women the space to respond if we're interested.

Gender flip here, I've always had random women chat me up while in line for Starbucks or at the grocery store. I don't date women and just want to get through my day, they're obviously non threatening but its a conversation I don't want to have with a complete stranger.
