I went to college for engineering and I definitely don't have any regrets in getting my degree. Of course there were some classes that I thought was a waste of time, but overall I learned how to problem solve in a methodical way. That probably came with my work experience as well, but I feel that the coursework definitely taught me how to zoom out and look at a problem as a whole and not to focus on small individual parts. I've been able to apply that in my current work as well as my life so far. I also got to join a fraternity and have all sorts of fun, and while it was expensive, it was definitely a fun and huge learning experience part of my life.

One the best advice about college I learned after I graduated. “Major on something that will get you a job. Minor in something you love.” And do what Mark Cuban did. Take everything in your first and second year so you’ll just be cruising on your 3rd and 4th year.

I would say the most important thing is to have that mentor growing up. I never had one and I was so lost. I didn’t know what to prepare for what to do in college and post college. I ended up so behind. Lack of motivation and procrastination is a consequence of that. So find a good mentor it could be a friends older bro or sis an older cousin an uncle.

agreed w bart, college is all about the journey and not the goal, you always have to plan your next move and how to get there in the time span u set for yourself. school is always about looking at the macro, especially if u struggle to see the point of it in the moment like nick

I have mixed feelings about my degree. I'm a Nursing graduate but never got to practice it due to my father dying suddenly. I had to take over the family business and had to take care of my sick mother and younger brother. I don't exactly regret my degree but in retrospect, I wish I took a different course. At least, I would have been better prepared going into business. Boy, the mistakes I made...smh. Plus, some subjects in college courses are useless honestly. It's just another way for the university to make more money. Nursing course but we had subjects like History, Literature, and First Year Christian Formation (It was a Jesuit school so yeah, religion is a big thing).

Condolences on your father's passing. Sorry your mother is ill. Thank you sincerely for helping care for her and your younger brother. I know it isn't an easy thing to do. When I cared for my mom; she had MS; it was a learn as I go experience. Now I care for my father with his health issues. Perhaps the nursing degree and the skills/knowledge you learned from your studies helps with your caring for your mother in her time of illness. I wonder if you would be able to still take some business courses if you are still in need of help in that area of your life. In any case, I hope all will be well for you and your family, and remember to take time for you as well.

My degrees are in chemistry and physics. I am not in either of those fields today, so sure, the content ended up being mostly irrelevant. But the way you learn to think is also something important you get out of it. And, frankly, because I did it, it proves to people that I’m more than capable. Which is kind of sad, but sometimes necessary.

I thought university/college in the Philippines was useful when I got to my major subjects but there’s all these filler subjects that I thought were so useless that didn’t relate to my degree at all. (Business management major) And I agree with Nick, some subjects or classes were awesome bc the professor was passionate but you can really tell who’s there just going through the motions and just picking up a paycheck If I had any regret, I did wish I went to a better university abroad (even if I did go to the big 4 in PH) but couldn’t bc of family reasons

As a union Carpenter apprentice at 20 years old, theres alot of money to be had in the trades where you dont need a college degree. I’ve got journeyman mentors who are making 90k+ a year here in Wisconsin (probably higher in different areas where COL is higher) with no degree. Whenever i get the chance to talk to high school kids i always tell them some careers NEED a college degree which is worth it. If you dont know what your doing at all and still going to college, DONT. Get a job, look around and figure it out before you decide if college is worth it. Definitely not worth accruing debt for no reason. Do it for a reason.

All throughout secondary school to sixth form all the subjects I (and everyone in the school) learnt were sciencey stuff, like cause it was literally and specifically a science institution. And I know I had potential for it but I just didn’t like it like everyone else in my batch. Ended up flopping my A Levels. Went to a polytechnic school instead. Took a Higher National Diploma in Digital Media. Studied it for 3 years. Loved it. Graduated. Now I’m in Uni on my 2nd year of doing an undergraduate degree BSc(Hons) in Creative Multimedia! So far i like it very much. It’s pretty hands-on quite similar like when i was studying in polytechnic

I do not regret my studies although it was a risk choice and it weakened me. The ability to solve problems is needed at a university, especially when you leave your home for the first time, and this is very exciting. When you are lucky you get a teacher who challenges you to think and has discussions with you. Unfortunately, my university was an extention for my high school, a lot of repetition and testing. However, I had some insight into this system. Now I don't know if I would study again.

During the pandemic lockdown, and some offices were going ahead with permanent remote work and not renewing their lease, I foresaw the inevitable business decision to just lay people off, and have the remote work done by somebody in Asia doing it for cheap. And now with AI, they don't even need to do that. So it's hard to say what is going to happen in the future, but I've seen patterns that repeat itself over and over for many decades. Certain popular TV shows would spawn a whole new generation of doctors, lawyers, and they would all be graduating and competing against each other for the same jobs, and now it's the same thing with computer coders and those jobs can be done from anywhere, they don't have to be in the office anymore. So having said all that, there is some return to the humble prestige of working with your hands and serving the local community in trade schools. And in the last few years of lockdowns, and to meet California's need for more housing, while everyone else was in lockdown, these tall new apartments sprung up like almost overnight because I haven't driven by in years. So those who stuck with it in the training years ago, are now making as much if not more than their white collar counterparts of the same age. I just can't say the same will be true for computer based work, you're gambling a lot of time and money, and there's all these people who already graduated and has work experience ahead of you and thousands got laid off this year. Those are the people who will get rehired first not those who just got out of school. I remember watching the news that there was a 2 block line or more of people wanting to work this union job of fixing elevators and escalators. In the trade unions they really look out for each other, and in the tech world, just know that it's really hard, people get fired so easily and most of it is contract based work.

What Bart was talking about top colleges and their roster of students now is kind of how people's personal love life fails because one person wasn't upfront with their expectations. Like a hot girl dumps a guy after a handful of dates because he wasn't at the level she wanted, and now you see these colleges just reject the 4.5 GPA students but accept a 3.8 GPA because they actually formed a business and is already successful. Now from the college admissions perspective, taking this student in will elevate the prestige of the college and the college is riding the coattails of this innovator. For the Boomers, it was the opposite, a bunch of wishful thinkers promising greatness who haven't done anything, and then after they get in, they chill and have frat parties and go to Spring Break at Daytona Beach, and graduate into mediocrity doing middle management for the rest of their life. Gone are those days of just bullshitting your way in, high GPA isn't enough, you need to show that you created a real company that is a disrupter in the industry. From the college's perspective, they get to charge insane tuition because now students from all over want to go to the same school that Zuckerberg created Facebook, etc. The type of business networks that can only be made if you go there. And these colleges are basically launchpads for the next multibillion dollar IPO with the kind of think tanks they have and the resources available. The main takeaway here is, it used to be in your parents day, that you went to college so you could be a millionaire, and now you have students who are millionaires forming a business to go to college so they can become billionaires! It's freaking wild.

I think the issue with college is that it's just so broad. Like you can be a biology major, but there's so many different careers paths that stem from it that requires a lot more specific knowledge. AND remember that these are mostly 17 year olds deciding what they want to do for the rest of their lives. The fact that colleges STRESS the fact that you must pick a major as soon as possible feels like you're just rushing into something that you really don't know much about. But besides that, the (away-from-home) college experience is something irreplaceable.

Honestly, I used to be upset that I didn't finish college, but I have a manager type position in a well known company and I'm the only one out of my peers without a degree. I got a degree in a field that is not related to what I do at all. It requires me to go to grad school and towards my 3rd year i got anxiety thinking about grad school. Did I regret college and the loans I have to pay back? Not at all. I joined organizations and got my first paying job on campus. The experience and people I met in the org actually had a large role in helping shape who I am today. Also dorming and having that community life is something I would not be able to buy with money in the real world. Like Geo said, everyone's the same age, in the same place in life, and honestly there's soo much to experience that you wont be able to once you step into the "real world." Even 10 years later I still keep in touch with my dormmates, friends from the org, and folks I networked with. Fortunately I didnt have a bad dorming experience so I can say it was one of the best experience in my life and I'm glad I did that instead of commuting. Get involved in campus life!

During and after highschool I didn't really know what I wanted to major. My parents suggested architect, but I didn't want to until I was convinced to take civil engineering. A year later I didn't like it, so I took multimedia arts. I took it for 2 years, but I lost interest when i reached animation. Next I took cinematography. I enjoyed scriptwriting, but the filming part was exhausting and people kept talking down this type of craft which was very demotivating. Lastly I took international business and graduated. Now I'm an accountant and it's been two years now. Have I discovered what I really want to do in life? Nope. Far from it, and I'm already 30 yrs old. I still feel lost and not sure what I want till today which is kinda sad imo.

Seems like it depends on your financial situation. But even then, I feel like because you’re doing something you’re passionate about you’ll find a way to make it work out. You’ve already made it this far so you might as well get that degree! So if you really believe that you’re bettering yourself and you’re passionate about what you’re doing then the debt should be worth it. The last thing you probably want to do is regret not pursuing what you truly wanted to do and letting others make decisions for you. I hope this helps and good luck on whatever decision you make! "What Do You Wanna Be, When You Grow Up ?" after High School, in America, there were like 3 Options, right: 1.) Continue going to School, either to a (cheaper priced) Junior/Community College, a Trade/Vocational School (auto mechanic, diesel, airplane pilot, marine, or HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, electronics, cosmetology) or a 4 Year (more expensive) University: public or private. the Study Abroad (foreign exchange) program sounds cool. 2.) Find a Job (internship/externship): usually an Entry Level type (Fast Food restaurants, or a Carnival; a temporary Summer Job), but now, there is no such thing as Job Security: people are forced to have either 2 or 3 Jobs. if not, one could do Volunteer Work (Peace Corps). 3.) Joining the Military : armed forces reserves; Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Special Forces/Ops. It is helpful to seek a Guidance Counselor, early on and get info., on how to get Financial Aid, if you really need it, if you don't have a honors program/sports scholarship: Student Debt (it is based on how long, that you want to go to school: Associate's degree (junior college); Bachelor's, Master's, Ph.D's, or a Doctorate degree.) it is like trying to do any Bodybuilding program or a Martial Arts type (karate, kung fu, jiujutsu, tae kwon do, sumo, judo, BJJ, aikido, jeet June do, hapkido; silat, Kali, escrima; krav maga; (Cambodia, Lao or (Muay Thai) kick boxing). it helps to have Goals, set Priorities, develop Time Management skills; Yes: All People learn things Differently.

Colleges spit out way too many graduates with useless college degree + degrees that are low wage degrees - but yet still charge them tuition that is way out of scale from what is costs vs what they earn. In my honest opinion - it should be a crime for expensive Ivy league type colleges to offer useless liberal arts or similar degrees. I believe that Colleges should specialize in specific degrees - like teaching - and charge tuition that is proportional to the potential earnings of the profession.

The problem is not inheritenly solely from colleges. Part of the problem also stem from school who also push college as the end all, be all. When I graduated HS, not once had my counselor push Trade school and/or entrepreneurship. It was always college, college, college. Then you got clueless HS graduates who don't really know what they actually want to do irl and just go with the flow of Hs to college and finish with a useless liberal arts degree. Looking back now, if my counselor and school district pushed Trade school over college, I wouldn't be working a deadend job right now and I'd 10x happier with a trade job. Atm, 5 years later...I am currently in the process of going into HVAC all I need to do is pass my accuplacer tests, get a letter of introduction from my local hvac union, and then take that letter to various local hvac contractors to hopfully start an apprenticeship.

If you don’t have a plan of what you want to use your degree for, then you don’t need to be wasting money on college. If in doubt, get a STEM degree lol

If the guy stuttering wasn’t the person directing the play by plays, wouldn’t it be okay? It sounded like he was there to just support the family that called it in. Not direct traffic. Maybe if he needed to get information from you then it’s not the best call. I know that was a extremely stressful situation and the stuttering wouldn’t aid in calming and reassuring you. And because in that moment you need to know and be in the loop with what’s going on.

I completely agree to you, but also the job of that person to to be reassuring the parents. And I believe the person with the stutter is probably not the most suitable for that lol.

Sorry you aren't mature enough to handle such seriously discussed topics, yet as the majority of the comments reflects, many others are mature enough to enjoy the conversation under discussion and the direction the show has taken.😏 The good news is though, that you can make the choice not to click, and go do something else more productive with your time.🤨 Good luck with that. 👍

Wow are you late to the game. Anyways. They wanted to take the channel in another direction as is their right to do, as the business owners. Tiff had repeatedly voiced that she wasn't happy here and felt her sense of humor didn't vibe well with the group anymore, so they let her go. Which was also within their right as business owners to do as it is their company and only they know what went on behind the scenes. And as would happen in any business or company, whether online or brick and mortar. The fact she went on to have another baby has nothing to do with it since she had the baby after she left. She is happy with her life as a mom of 2. And the new JK crew is thriving and vibing well as was the intention of the group. You can either be happy with that or you can choose not to watch, yet you will not cause a stink about it because that is not allowed here anymore.
